A month and a day post op. Took dog for an hour's walk for his 12th birthday. It's the longest I've managed to do. I then flaked out totally. Slept 3pm through to gone half seven.
Had a low point this evening. Just wondering if and when life will ever get back to some semblance of normality ever again.

You really need to give it more time, I'm afraid. A month post op I was still sleeping in the day every day and there was no way I could have walked for an hour. Even now 5 months on i still get tired quite easily. You've had major surgery. The 6 weeks recovery they tell you means being vaguely functional, not being completely healed. You will get there but you need to be patient. X.
I am self employed and work from home (I'm a novelist) so I was working for a couple of hours a day from 2 weeks. I was working full time from 6 weeks as I had to do a major rewrite on a book due out next year and that was tough but I was able to do it. My husband also went back to work at that point so I was back on child/domestic duty and from then it was just back to normal and I had to get on with it. I didn't have to commute though and I don't know if I would have managed that.
hi, if you need to sleep then sleep, the body is hard at work doing its recovery work whilst you sleep.. you will be fine, it will just take time to recover..
You are making good progress even if you dont realise it xx
Overall doing pretty well. Definitely lots better than preop. I have occasional flare up but nothing a couple of painkillers can't deal with. I don't expect I will be the same as someone never had the condition and try to manage my expectations as such. However, I sometimes worry it is creeping back. I am determined not to have another operation for at least 5 years!
