I went to the hospital the other day to see gyncology. Ive to get a laparoscopy which im nervous about but at the same time im glad its getting done. She said that due to my CA125 level and all my symptoms that she positive they will find endo and i think they would be really suprised.

Anyone who has had a lap can they please share their experiences or advice. Think im most nervous about it afterwards as you just get sent home. I have bad anxiety so i always think the worst.

I had my lap surgery done on July 28. It went fine. They did find endo so the surgery took longer than expected due to the amount of affected tissue they removed. However, I still went home 4hrs after surgery. Recovery was rough for the first 3-4 days (hubby went back to work 2 days later so I was back in mum mode looking after our feisty 2 year old). The incisions themselves healed quickly, no pain. I had some period like cramps in my abdomen from where they removed endo tissue. The main pain was caused by the gas they inflate the abdomen with. That pain lasted 4 days. I used an ice pack on my stomach for the cramps and a warm wheat bag on my shoulder for the gas pain. You'll feel tired and move slower for the first week or two post surgery, but it's only a minor operation so the recovery is quite straightforward. You'll be just fine :).

If you take a look at my profile I have many posts leading up to my lap and also a day to day post as I'm recovering (now 7 days post op). There's lots of questions I've asked and many kind and helpful replies.

Feel free to message me if you have any questions I could possibly answer x

Hi, glad to hear it went alright and they've offered a lap.

In my experience be prepared to have some pain for a week after but it will pass. Kinda feels like if you really really overdone a load of pull ups and your muscles are sore :) My advice is get some loose fitting comfy clothes ready to take with you on the day of surgery and for a week after. And don't over do it and move around too much.

Like JugheadJane said the gas they inflate you stomach with is the worst part of it. It kind of sits on your chest and collar bones and feels crushing. It freaked me because I didnt expect it. But peppermint tea helps a massive amount and a heat pack is brilliant. Having an extra cushion or two under your head when you sleep will help with the trapped air and when you need to get up because 'crunching' you stomach can be painful for a few days to a week.

Good luck and I hope it all goes well :)

Thanks for your advice. Apprectiate it ☺ aw aye am definitely gettinf a new pair of comfy jammies. All be coming out with them on lol.

Alot of people have said the gas part ia really uncomfortable etc. I had a colonoscopy a few months back and a found the gas part afterwards was really uncomfortable and lasted about 4 days. But dunno if it will be more than what i got cause the area etc but least i have a linda idea of that part. Did you finf after a few weeks you were back to normal x

lol pyjammas are the best thing, I basically lived in them for two weeks, even left the hospital in them :)

Never had a colonoscopy so I dont know how similar it will be. But sounds like you have a bit of an idea.

First one took longer to heal from because aparently I got a bit fighty coming out of my anasetic so they pumped me full of sedetives and pain killers but gave me no anti sickness. Its grim but honestly I was so sick, and I am never sick. It was like that scene out of the excorsist haha so I ripped my stiches and gave my stomach muscles one hell of a work out. Ended up taking five-six weeks before I was completely back to normal.

Second one they gave me seditives before putting me under and anti sickness so I didnt have the same problem. Was back to normal two- three weeks later.

Both times the gas was gone after 5 days and the stitches where out after a week. It just took a little longer before my abdominal muscles stopped being sore. Feels like a ages at the time and it can be infuriating that you can't do as much as usual but once your back to normal it feels like no time at all x

Aye defo the jammies getting out on like! Lol. Il be living in them haha.

Aw right a see. My husband was fighting everyone off when he came round from getting his appedix out. Am going to make sure i say to them about it cause when i feel sick or tht i used to faint cause ive got a phobia of being sick. Ive had cbt etc but im really nervous about it so im going to make sure i say to them about it at my assessment.

A think im most worries about the recovery part as i have my son whos under the age of two who is literally non stop all day. My hisband works full time so this is the part im worried about the most i think xx

Apparently getting fighty happens more than you'd, I don't remeber it at all though. Definetly mention it at the assessment, thats what I did at the second one and I'm so glad I did.

Ahh I can understand why your worring about recovery if you have a little man running around. If you can get someone to help for the first couple of days you should maybe. For your anxiety if nothing else. And if you can don't pick him up or do any heavy lifting for the first couple of days, I'm sure the nurse you see for your assessment will tell you everything you need to know :) X
