May have endo

So been having problems since 2014, well long before that, I'm 33 now, when I was 24 I had my first pap (I live in Canada and was with a controlling boyfriend that didn't want a doctor looking at my lady parts 🙄) my mother made me go when I was 24, that pap came back hpv and high grade abnormal cells, had a colposcopy, biopsy, that showed high grade precancerous cells of the cervix, had a Leep to have them all removed and was given all clear after two years of check ups every 3 months.

Fast forward 2014, new boyfriend and yearly pap check, this one came back with BV and abnormal cells, treated BV, keep eye on cells......

About 4 months into dating new boyfriend started to have painful sex but thought it was because he was well endowed, last boyfriend was a 12 year relationship and for the last few years we barley had sex, so I thought this is normal, my ex was a smaller fella and we hardly had sex, my vagina just isn't used to this, then after sex one night about 5-6 months with new guy, very painful sex and blood, scared me so bad I thought I cut him he said he was ok but we went to the er for me, told them about my medical history, they said oh may be an ovarian cyst don't worry about it, no follow ups nothing, just go home you will be ok, so I didn't worry and continued with dealing with varying degrees of painful sex and light bleeding on occasion, then about 2 months after first er visit, really really painful sex and more blood then before, back to ER, again, told of medical history and agin I was told, may be cyst don't worry, here is a referral to a local gyno, went to see gyno, he too said may be cyst and your abnormal cells don't worry about them, no ultrasound has been done up to this point, so all of 2015 and part of 2014 I was dealing with this, no other symptoms, periods normal, nothing but painful sex and bleeding.

Fast forward February 14 2016

Was having a lovely evening with my boyfriend, yep we had sex and that's when everything went to hell, his last thrust as he was "finishing" sent a shot of pain through me unlike anything I have ever experienced, I thought because of his size he actually broke me no joke I really did

So I took an Advil, this was around 9:30, the pain was bad but I thought I would be ok, boyfriend went to sleep as I told him too, then around 12:30 I woke him and said something is seriously wrong and I need a doctor, I had taken about 5 Advil by this time.

So off to the ER, I couldn't even walk, was hanging onto the wall and my boyfriend lol

So went in got assessed and hooked up to iv and then given morphine for the pain, ultrasound at 3am would have cost 500$ and I have money but not that kind to throw around so waited till 8 am, all night in pain and the doctor thought it was my Appendix...8am ultrasound was done 8:15 being prepared for emergency surgery due to an ovarian torsion

My right ovary and fallopian tube had twisted, causing my ovary to grow to about 10 cm with no blood supply yay my body loves me lol

So fast forward to about 3 months after laparoscopic surgery to remove ovary and Fallopian tube, slightly painful sex and occasionally bleeding again, I assumed this was just from surgery so I paid no mind

Fast forward again to May 11, 2017 painful sex more blood than I was used to for the past year didn't say anything to my boyfriend, I went to the emergency room the next day didn't have any sort of exam other than Dr. pushing on my tummy and he said I should go see my doctor and have a pap (I was a year and a half late on my pap so I made the appointment,) had Pap done in may near end of month, was recommended by doctor, to see my gynaecologist/ my surgeon, pap came back clear but a fungal growth, ask if I have symptoms of a yeast infection I said no, and told ok don't worry about that but come back in 6 months instead of a year..for a follow up....ok

also had an ultrasound done later that week and it came back normal.

Just seen my gynaecologist/surgeon on June 20 2017 and she said oh, you have endometriosis, here are your treatment options....I asked if she was sure and she said no but I can have laparoscopic diagnostic done to make sure, so I'm scheduled for that in 3 months

So over the past year my symptoms have gone from just painful sex and bleeding, to now include, back pain leg pain, tired, feeling sick more often then not, period has been Abnormal last 6 months, spot about a week before and sex is insanely painful and bleeding, normal flow first 3 days but then stops on 4th day, then I pretty much spot brown up until about a week before my period, and it's starts all over again, I always get bloated before my period but lately the bloat is anytime of the month at anytime of the day, and I work out 6 days a week so this is frustrating, one day I see abs then 3 hours later gone and could be like that for 2-3 days, the sex pain is deep but kinda where my cervical area would be, I have sharp pain in my lower right pelvic area intermittently that is sometimes dull, sometimes omg I about fell down that goes down my leg and just chills there for a while, and this happens at anytime anywhere now, my left side has been starting to hurt in the ovary area as well the past month, and these symptoms just seem a little more bothersome then the week before as the weeks go on...... yeah so that's me and my lovely reproductive system any Ladies with any advice or input for symptoms or anything, feel free to comment, or ask any questions you want

Sorry if my ramblings of hard to read but I'm at work trying to type this all out without getting caught LOL

Should also note I'm peeing more often and last few days its starting to feel like something is slightly tugging on the line where the pee comes down to my vagina, if that makes sense

What did they say when they treated you ovarian torsion? Was endometriosis noted? What contreception have you used? Its very hard to say. I was very much like you in my teens with bad cells. I ended up with a cervical ectropian which caused me to bleed during sex. Not sure how long ive had endo for, probably years but its never caused me to bleed during sex and i have DIE stage 4 and had a massive endometrioma on each ovary. Not impossible though.

Thanks for the reply, and sorry you have been having a hard time, I have not used birth control in years, I tried one called Depo-Provera when I was 14 or 15 years old, my mom thought I should be on BC as I was becoming a woman, it's the one that is a needle you get every 3 months, made me bleed for 3 weeks, I never touched birth control after that, scared me pretty good,

When I went to see my Gynecologist/surgeon on june 20th she said that while she was in there doing laparoscopic surgery for my ovarian torsion she didn't see any signs of any endometriosis or any growths of anything else, she said everything actually looked very good, other then my right ovary that she was removing,

I have done so much research since the pain has come back after my first Lap surgery and I can't believe how much can go wrong with our lady parts, and it seems finding the problem is the biggest problem

That is the problem. They all have very similar symptoms too but my line of thought is, bleeding during and after sex is usually related to either vagina. Hormonal imbalance causing dryness? Cervix. Ectropian or bad cells. Or womb. Have you had a hysterscopy? Maybe that might throw up some answers for you?

You've really suffered. It certainly sounds like endometriosis and cysts to me. You may have another cyst, BTW. I had one rupture and another grew back fairly soon after on the same ovary and had to be removed. I had many of the symptoms you describe and I was diagnosed with endo and ovarian cyst by laparoscopy. Evidence of the ruptured cyst showed up on a vaginal ultrasound scan. I hope you get it sorted soon. The pain's awful until after surgery. Sending you love and luck with all your hospital experiences. x

Sorry you went through this, since what I went through I feel so much sympathy and empathy for other women when I hear their stories, I used to hear some of female friends complain about lady problems but never paid attention cause I didn't have any, now I feel like I should have been more supportive then I was....

I too was thinking more cyst but my ultrasound came back clear, But I know they can be missed, and I actually thought one may have grown back on the other side then thought adhesions and then google taught me everything that could go wrong in there, kinda makes ya feel over dramatic trying to explain it to people, but when something feels not right and not normal, you just know something isn't the way it should be,

Thanks.

Trust your instinct. If you know something's wrong, fight like hell until it's diagnosed. Just because you didn't have endo. then, doesn't mean you haven't developed it since your laparoscopy. Don't let them fob you off, honey. They did that to me and it left me in pain for far longer than was necessary. It could be other things, but they won't know unless they investigate fully. You deserve the best treatment and you deserve to live without pain. Unfortunately, we do need to fight for our health because doctors can and do make mistakes. You need to let them know how much this is negatively affecting your quality of life. x
