Hi i've just joined suffering badly with all Endometriosis symptoms including rectal bleeding and was wondering if anyone knows if your bowel can be affected with this condition.I'm waiting on a Laparoscopy to have a proper look as i'm not diagnosed yet but tick every box and the consultant reckons that's what it could be thanks.Mandy

Hello, I believe you can have endo on your bowel and this can cause adhesions but you should speak to your GP asap about this as rectal bleeding should never be taken lightly.

The stress of waiting for a diagnosis could also be related to this, maybe?

I have heard them mentioning adhesions but may be because of having surgery to remove my large bowel i think they will get a better idea after the Laparoscopy and couldn't come sooner have to see what's going on.I seen a gastro prof on Fri he was great getting the camera to look into my small bowel etc thanks a lot.

I have rectal bleeding too, and my gp says that can be an endo symptom- I had a stool test and examination to rule anything else out though.

Yes you absolutely can. By the time I was diagnosed, I had stage 4 endo. I had 2 surgeries in one year because they couldn't treat all of the areas at once. I had 10 inches of small bowel removed. I also had some on the colon that was left untreated.

Hi Mandy, I'm so sorry you're in pain. It's such a horrible disease.

Yes, you can get it on your bowel. There are other common endo. sites which can cause rectal pain, too.

I agree with Sal. Please get the rectal bleeding checked by your G.P. just in case.

Good luck with everything. Reach out if you need us. x
