I've been gluten free for a while now and it definitely helps me. So much so that when I accidentally have gluten I notice my pain levels increase. I feel generally a lot better for cutting gluten out of my diet and have found it surprisingly ok to do xxx
Thanks Janine , I will be honest thou and have no idea what has gluten in and what don't. Do u still get pain ?
My pain and symptoms are horrendous that week out the month I DREAD xxx
I do still get pain from time to time but I've found it's a lot better without the gluten. I tend to avoid processed foods now, I've cut out bread and pasta (although I do have gluten free versions occasionally) I eat a lot of fruit and veg and fresh fish. I think eating more healthily generally has helped me feel better xxx
I've been gluten free & reduced dairy for a while & do think it has reduced some of my pain. Like Janine said a healthier diet definitely improved my symptoms. I find alcohol gives me a lot of pain, different foods are probably triggers for different people.
I'm just lost and don't know what to try ... I don't drink ... I don't really eat much if I'm honest but when I do it's not particularly healthy ... I'm in so much pain today .... sitting at my desk with one hot water bottle on belly and one on back ... 5am I got up to let me dog out and I could barely walk!
All dr's proscribe is codine which does take the edge off a tiny bit but I just know this week will be a struggle and it's draining to think I gotta put up with this 😫😢 xxx
I've been gluten free for 18 months and it really does help, I still get really bad days but much better since I've been gluten free
If your suffering that much its really worth trying for at least 6 weeks
Caffeine is also a biggie. Particularly coffee for me. My pain is definitely worse when I have coffee (decaf or not). I've had mixed results with gluten free but I'm going to try again. Absolutely definitely worth giving it a go for 2 months to see if it helps you. If you google 'Endometriosis diet' you'll find lots of suggestions and books. I mainly eat fruit, veg, fish and the pain becomes way more intense if I have a diet of Processed foods etc. Get used to reading the labels on whatever you buy and most supermarkets now have a 'free from' section.
Oh and when I make curries, gluten-free pasta I throw turmeric and other warming spices in everything along with pumpkin seeds. They're meant to be anti-inflammatory and for me definitely seem to help. Always good to make large batches of veg casseroles, veg curries etc and stick the extra in the freezer for the days you can't be bothered cooking or physically can't from the pain.
hi. Totally worth trying. It's made a big difference in the few months I've been doing it, I don't have anything with gluten, wheat, dairy or caffeine in. It was hard at first and I guarantee if it wasn't for my husband and my mum I would never have stuck to it. As mentioned different things affected people I can have gluten free bread but pasta in any form brings my pain so I avoid it. Plenty of salad, fresh fruit, I don't eat red meat but reduction in that is good and oily fish. Plenty of water and herbal teas like peppermint and chamomile. It's not a miracle cure but its definitely helped me i didn't manage to get to take my daughter to school for 10 weeks, few days after starting the changes and I've comfortable walked the mile. I've not done it during my period as I have very little energy that week but my pain is less. good luck and I hope it helps you. Xx
