Gluten free diet constipation

I’m 2 weeks post lap and I’ve been constipated for a few days. I don’t know if it’s my new gluten free diet, lack of not doing anything or the surgery.

I’ve managed to go today with some laxido

I’m eating really healthy and changed my diet completely to know gluten and I don’t know if this change would make me constipated. Left the house once in 2 weeks so I imagine no movement won’t help either!

I use psyllium husk tablets for constipation, diarrhoea and bloating.

Day 6 post surgery for me yesterday and last night I had the most horrible doubled up in agony pain in my bowels.

I took two psyllium husk tablets and did a almighty bottom burps haha and then my bowels opened. I took another two tablets this morning.

You can take two tablets up to three times aday. I'm fine now pain has gone and I have calmer bowels.

I believe it's where the stomach and bowels are adjusting to the abdominal surgery. Wind just gets trapped . I've been drinking fluids every two hours and following a anti inflammatory and anti estrogen diet as I usually do. Also eating foods that have natural laxatives.

I did walk about the park with my partner and dogs. Not sure if gravity moved some trapped wind.

I use the innopure brand of psyllium husk tablets as they are gluten, dairy , soy free. I get mine on Amazon as the deliver next day.

I’m 2 posts post now and my constipation has been brewing for a few days. I went for a walk today to try and get things moving I really don’t think me stopping in for 2 weeks was the best idea lol

I know it's frustrating. I hate sitting still. But I think it's a slow process and we need to listen to our bodies. It tells us what it needs.

I expect some of your constipation is due to a change in diet. It's adjusting to the changes.

I felt dizzy and a little nauseated after only sitting since my operation 7 Days ago and moving for 10 mins every two hours as advised by the hospital.

The 30 minutes walk yesterday tired me out and I think gravity shifted some trapped wind. So today I have slept a lot. I did walk around my garden which is the size of a football pitch today. I've also taken the psyllium husk tablets which seems to have helped me. I will take some more before I go to bed.

Hopefully we will feel like our old selves again soon. What ever that is. It's been a while. I think we need to take this time to find myself again while we am free of endometriosis , cysts and fibroids at the moment.

I’ve only been out twice in 2 weeks with minimal walking..

So started walking now to let everything get moving. Yeah my diet change lots of fruit and veg no gluten.. my stomach will be confused and probs has more gas in there Now got back ache from the constipation! I took some laxido and everything moved haha but still know there’s more in there haha

If you can get some psyllium husk tablets they help with constipation, diarrhoea and bloating, are gluten, dairy and soy free. They will add natural fibre to your gluten free diet. Some of the shop brought gluten free products contain a lot of sugar and not much fibre this adds to the bloating. If you can cook from scratch it's best.

Like I’m eating more vegetables and fruit but then no bread and gluten which my body is used to so the change might be a shock to the system then with no the exercise too lol

Guilty of not drinking enough water either.

I’ll try and up the water intake and try increase Fiber I’ll try those husks I’ve been eating raisins tonight and I’ll go for another stroll to get the gas moving around lol I’ve honestly not moved apart from outting last week, defiantly should of been moving more than I have as I know they recommend moving to help with recovery

The internet says diet change and lack of movement causes it.. so both of them are a big yes from me lol

Well done you have taken your first step on dealing with the constipation. Keep up the good work researching. It's interesting what you find. You will be helping others soon as all this is teaching you how to look after your body. It's also helping you to read what your body is telling you that it needs. When it happens in future you will know what it means and how to deal with things to make yourself feel better . Plus the things you are experiencing you can help others with once you master your body x
