I was diagnosed with endometriosis in 2011 and I've had two lots of surgery once in 2011 and then again in 2015. The endo has returned yet again but rather than more surgery my consultant has asked me to try the mirena coil which I had put in last Friday. I wasn't sure what to expect and I know I need to give it more time, my consultant has asked me to try and bear with it for 3 months as a minimum. Since last week I have had lower back pain, a dull pelvic pain, nothing as intense as when the endo flares up but it is still there. The one thing that is worrying me is that for the last two days I have felt dizzy, lightheaded and nauseous with slight blurred vision, and just don't feel myself. I just wondered if anyone else has had these experiences with the mirena it and if they will pass soon or is it something I need to contact my consultant about. Feeling slightly worried about it.

Mirena coil
Hi there, I had mirena put in during my last laparoscopy and I have all of these symptoms but I also have them with endo too so I struggle to distinguish which one it is causing these problems so I know how you feel! Maybe go to your doctor and discuss these symptoms and they might just give you an overall check and check there are no infections lurking making you feel off. Can you feel your coil threads ?
I still have the endo pains but this is totally different to anything I've had over the recent years, I'm only a week in so might give it a bit longer. The coil threads are still there so I'm guessing this is just a side effect of the hormone. Thanks for coming back to me really appreciate your time.
In the first months of Mirena you can get all sort of symptoms. I too got dizzy and lightheaded, was actually sick a couple of times, I also get incredibly painful breasts, as mouth sores. Most of these symptoms have at least lightened now I've had it in over 3 months. I had mine put in at the start of November during a lap. I saw my GP the other day who thinks it won't work for me as I'm getting bleeding with clots every two weeks. The strings have disappeared so he can't just take it out, and when I had a scan to confirm the position they found a haemorragic cyst on my ovary, which wasn't there during my lap. My pain hasn't changed to be honest, probably actually worse but the strange symptoms like dizziness have gone. Hope that helps. Give it a bit more time, it doesn't work for everyone but your symptoms might ease, and will almost certainly change the longer you have it in.
Thanks for your reply makes me feel a bit better that these are just side effects. The strange thing is this afternoon I've now had a break out of cold sores which I've not had for about 10 years so it must be all linked to the mirena. I will give it longer as my consultant asked me to give it at least 3 months. I'm willing to try anything as really don't want to go for a third laparoscopy. The endo pain is constant but its the bleeding I can't cope with, I don't get any respite from it, maybe one/two days free a month only, which is why they wanted me to try the mirena to see if it could slow or even stop the bleeding. Fingers crossed.
Hope you are ok, are you going back to have the cyst removed?
