Worrying about when the pain will return.

My excision surgery 11 weeks ago has been very successful as I have gone from pain relief everyday to hardly any in the 8 weeks. You would think great, lets get on with life but I keep finding myself wondering when the pain and endo will return.

At my follow up appointment my consultant was talking about reviewing in 6 months whether I need to take some form hormonal treatment like the zoladex again. I am under no illusions as to the fact the endo will return as mine was severe and everywhere that it was unlikely they would manage to get it all, but the thought about talking about hormones so early on, I am constantly thinking how much time I have at being 'normal'.

Has anyone else found themselves focused on how long they have relief from the endo for and obviously dreading it's return?

Hi Millie, I'm the same . I had a hysterectomy (due to adenomyosis), BSO and excision beginning of March. With every twinge or hint of pain I'm thinking is it going to start again.

I have every faith that that my surgeon did a thorough job , but I think it's natural to feel like this. So you're not alone.

I don't think I ever expected to feel so much better and the thought of going back to the point where I was is so scary. Realistically though it isn't because I have the diagnosis now and am under a specialist so it shouldn't go that far again. It is only since my op that I realise how much it was affecting me day to day over the past few years. Hope your recovery continues well.

Hi Lindle, thanks for replying. I am not on anything at the moment as we want to start a family, we have just got our appointment with a fertility clinic. I wouldn't mind going on a contraceptive, it is the thought of going back on zoladex that worried me! I am 39 this year so all focus has been to get me to a point where I can conceive unfortunately it looks as if both of my Fallopian tubes are blocked.
