I am due to have my diagnostic laparoscopy next Tuesday. All this week I have been suffering with a cold. Does anyone know if this could stop my surgery and can speak from personal experiences? I'm hoping it will be gone by Tuesday but who knows with these colds!

I had a sort of cold\chesty cough about a week or 2 before mine.
I basically plied myself with vitamin C, drank lots of water and ate really well- lots of veg etc to get my immune system back on track and it seemed to work for me. This was all just after Christmas and New Year so I'd been a bit lax with my healthy eating.
I think as long as you are not full of a cold when your lap comes round, you'll probably be OK and being that you've got it now means you'll be fighting it off at the moment anyway.
Take it easy this weekend and try not to have any alcohol as this will affect your immune system, plus it's not a good idea before surgery anyway.
I will admit though that having a cough after the lap is not something you want.
However, if you are concerned and do feel unwell prior to the surgery, it's best to tell your doctor\surgeon.
Going to pop to shop and stock up on oranges and vitamin c... Oh and lots of veg!!
Just read your post about post op recovery it's great to ready the anxiety is really kicking in which I am pretty sure it's not helping my cold! I suffer with anxiety anyway which I am on medication for.. Also off work today which does not help my mind as I hate being off and know I have good couple weeks off coming up! How long where you off work for post op and how are you feeling now?
I'm glad it has been of some use! I'm generally an anxious person too and I know sitting there thinking is sometimes the worst! It's like you're your own worst enemy.
I've been trying to be more mindful and 'in the present moment' which helps. Meditation sounds hippy dippy but it is the way forward :D.
I was off work for a week (5 days + the weekend in total). I work at a desk all day so I'm not really up and about and I have healed really well. My first day back I was working from home because I wasn't sure I could drive safely\sit up for too long but after that I was OK.
Remember though that everyone is different it's just important to listen to your body and don't go back before you are ready. After your op, be sure to get up every few hours when you are able to have a little walk about- it'll all feel odd at first but you'll be fine.
I'm currently still a tad sore on the inside when my normal bodily functions happen, but moving about isn't a problem. I've started exercising again this week- to my delight, just easing myself into it. My consultant said that it can all take a few months to fully heal.
Hi, I'm not sure about the cold, but I'm also having surgery Tuesday. I have severe anxiety too so I can sympathize. Try light exercises if you can. Good luck with your surgery!
