Hi Liz, I've not had the coil but from what I've heard from others it can take a good few months for it to settle in, so to speak. Sorry I can't be of more help.
Hi Jean, thank you, I've had coil before from 2014-2015 and didn't get pain only spotting for months so hoping others with experience may come along and share their thoughts. I had been told by another medical professional that if I have endo (potentially which hadn't been found) then coil won't help xx
Hi Hun I had the coil fitted, it did settle my heavy bleeding but it did take 15 months to settle then I had missive side affects, this made me so poorly, im currently having some vaginal pain and a feeling of fullness in there, been the docs today got to wait another 8 weeks for my appointment now. x
I only had mine fitted just over a month ago during my lap. I had a little spotting, then that stopped but 3 weeks after I started bleeding and I was still taking my contraceptive pill because it was too soon for me to have a period after my operation.
And it was when that bleeding started that I had sharp agonising stabbing pains in my vaginal area. My endo nurse sent me for a scan, the ultrasound showed it was in the right place. And the pain has now settled (almost 5 weeks post op) but still bleeding. And now I have finished with the pill so I guess I will have a "proper" period.. which won't be fun.
Really hoping it settles down, and helps my endo pain. And I seriously pray it stops endometriomas growing!
hi, ive had mine in 3 weeks now, pain eased up towards end of last week but then in pain again as ovulation time - grrr. i had spotting on first day but that was it. I was on cerazette (progestogen only pill) when i had it fitted and i had one week left of the packet so finished that and no bleeding thank goodness. just hope i dont start bleeding. i had no pain for first week then pain kicked in at period time, i dont bleed but have all the pain and symptims. ive been in loads of pain though and the painkillers were only just taking the edge off. Doctor doesnt think its the coil. i didnt for a second think it was either as i had no pain with coil last time i had it fitted. this is just same pain as i had before lap but worse. plus i have this pressure feeling which is very weird. but i had this before after i had had the coil in for nearly a year i started bleeding heavily, in lots of pain and pressure feeling. as soon as coil was taken out pressure feelign went but pain continued and i have had pain every since twice a month.
Not sure if a coil will aggravate endo, my specialist fitted one for me during a lap as he said it's meant to be very good for endo. Unfortunately I didn't get on with it, had very sharp stabbing pains which were just unbearable (completely different pains from my endo pain) which didn't settle and so I had it removed - I gave it 3 months to settle which I know isn't a long time to let it do it's thing but the contraction like pains were constant.
