How long?

Hi ladies,

Does anyone know how long it takes for endo to grow back say after a laparoscopy if the endo was excised? Feeling stupid asking this as I don't know if anyone would know the answer, but it's worth a shot as I am very curious haha!

Hope your all well

Hi, it's not a silly question, quite the opposite, but not an easy one to answer, I think if you have full excision work done by a skilled endo specialist, you can go years without symptom, but thus also depends where and how servers it is / was,

I'm dye to see a specialist 18th, after having endo removal and a full hysterectomy for Adenomyosis, I'm still in pain, from the endo I'm assuming, I was operated on by a genral gyne surgeon,

All and any questions need an answer, I'll be following this post, hope fully, ladies will tell us all their positive stories, lol

X

I know for me after my most recent surgery to remove stuff, i started having pain again about eight months later. The problem is that my doctor said they did excision, but god only knows if they really did.

Hi there

It's not a silly question, it's definitely one I had when I had a laparoscopy. I think it's different for everyone of course but for me, the symptoms returned after around 6 months unfortunately (those six months were great though!) I had a skilled surgeon and I was told that they got everything they could see but unfortunately endo can sometimes get in tricky places where they either can't see it or get to it :(

Mine was worse than anticipated though and what they thought would take an hour took almost four so who knows if they didn't just think right that's enough lets get out of here :-/

The thing with endo is it can grow back month on month, it's certainly very frustrating like that.

Hope you get a long time of relief if you have one x

I had surgery in the April, then had 3 months of GnrH injections, I had an ultrasound in September and was told I had a 2cm cyst on my remaining ovary and they would monitor it. I got my first period in the November and was admitted to hospital because of the pain. I was put back on the injections in March and ended up having a hysterectomy in October, where I was told that the cyst on my right ovary was 17cm. So in the 5 months when I wasn't having the injection the cyst grew.

Everybody is different - but I was so surprised in the time it took to return to how I was before the surgery. Once the pain returned it was like the surgery had never happened.

God, not very reassuring, so sorry your surgery didn't work better for you ladies,

Can we have some positive posts please, be really great to hear that sometimes it's a successful op.

I believe that the current research shows that the recurrance rate is between 20-40% of people within 2 years. Of course this is the rate logged with the gynaes, and given it may take a year or more to be able to get back to see them there may be a flaw in those figures!

However, it does go into remission, so if you are eating the right foods and can keep the stress levels down to a minimal level, you have every chance of keeping well. Some research I was involved with a while ago was looking really good and then just before the end it was spoilt by a few people who had life impose mega stress levels upon them. Things like; both parent's dying, divorce, loved dog killed - hit by a car, these all triggered their symptoms back with a vengence.

So lets look forward to a calm and peaceful new year with no stress.

Hi ladies,

I had a lap etc and unfortunately because of where the endo was (wrapped around ovaries, bowel adhesions etc) they couldn't remove it all. The pain stayed as excruciating as always :( Hopefully i'm a rarity though! :) x

I have no idra but i had endometriosis and i ended up having a full hysterectomy.

I've had about 8 laparoscopic surgeries, 7 with laser and 1 with excision.

Unfortunately after the laser ops the pain started almost immediately after my first period. So virtually straight away!

After the last op in 2008, when i had excision, I would say about 6 weeks after the first horrendous period.

I hope this helps! Let me know please how you are.
