It was uncomfortable to say the least tbh its sorta like havein severe diarrhoea you'll need the toilet on a constant for about 30mins to an hour so make sure your near a toilet and you'll feel like you have a tummy ache but thats about it hun xx its not all that bad

thanks for getting back to me :) I have had to do micro enema for sigmoidoscopy a few weeks ago which was fine just  bit awkward but these are 2 massive bottle 128 ml i think, one i need to do in eve before op and one at at 4am before op asked GP about it yesterday and she had no idea how long would take to work and how near to the toilet i need to be she had only done one once when training.?? It  just looks like so much liquid to hold for 20 minutes and then how strong is the urge? I  only have small toilet cubical so cant do it next to toilet so gonna have to do it in bedroom lie for it to work then get down flight of stairs to toilet :(  Does that sound do-able with your limited experience :) I know we all different but can't find any proper info on the net and pre op nurse just said to ask pharmacist as she didn't know ??? It just extra stress really I 'm a nhs patient at private hospital for some unknown reason and they really useless and theres no one to complain to or ask questions of they just don't reply or ring back , think i going to have to physically go in.   But just thought handy if someone got some experience and could give me the patient experience :) hope you well now :)

I was the same i was a nhs patient at a specialist hospital and to go downstairs to your nearest toilet i would say its defo not doable hun if you've ever had the laxative drinks its like that you have a few seconds if that to actually get to a toilet before your rear takes control i only had one bottle bout 3 hours before my op and i could only hold it in for 10 minutes my nurse said if you can hold it in longer it would be beneficial but its easier said than done when ur actually in that situation. I was in a cubicle and right next to me in the nxt room was the toilet and only just managed to make it most of the time any nurse or doctor that says you need an enema would understand that you need to be near a toilet in close poximity xx

No i had mine done in the hospital i would say to stay with in the toilet perimeter jus to be safe once the feeling has passed or you may end up being in a messy situation hun x its easy to do providing ur lyin down x

:( :( i only have a small landing outside my toilet cubical and not really doable trying to lie on floor there i don't think I'd fit and do it also have teenage kids it all bit of a nightmare. I don't know why I've been told to do it at home ??? Also only have vague details of how to do on bottle i have no medical training. When I had sigmoidoscopy at NHS hospital I had a leaflet explaining everything and they were tiny enemas ???? Hospital pre op nurses still not replying to e mails or ringing back consultant has no secretary there so can only leave messages with NHS booking department and no one replies :( god it stressful  being ill never mind all this on top. :( :( Don't want to make official complaint before op really but  think the pre op nurse has made a mistake. Anyway thanks for your replies can't find anyone on here that's had to do there own enema at home think there must be a mistake somewhere.
