I had crippling pains with the mirena. Demand its removal if you are unhappy with it. Your GP/gynaecologist has to oblige. I had panic attacks, deep suicidal depressions and significant hair loss as well when on the mirena. It just doesn't agree with some people. If your doctor won't remove it, lodge a formal complaint and visit a family planning clinic who will undoubtedly remove it at your request. If I were you and was receiving such little support from my doctor I would seriously consider moving practices.
Hope you're feeling better soon

Thankyou. So fed up. The pains are so bad xx
The insertion for me was surprisingly horrible and then once I'd got over the initial aching I had bouts of terrible excruciating stabbing pains. I know just what you're going through. I totally agree that it is worth trying to persevere but if it is ruining your life in the here and now it's perfectly reasonable to have it removed. For me, the pain subsided slightly, my main issue was the anxiety and brain fog, I just couldn't function. Let us know how you get on xx
I've persevered with mine since last December. Had a lot of pain for the first 6 -7 months. I seemed to pass through 'different phases. It was depression for a good month, really bad cramping for a time, back ache, constant bleeding. You name it I had it! Nearly had it out a few times, still might but my consultant asked me to bear with it and I did. Losing loads of hair too but that could be the stress of everything rather than just the mirena? Good luck whatever you decide x
So stressed with it. Nhs act like mirena the be all and end all xx
I know, all about the cost isn't it. At the end of the day it was my choice to stick with it, I didn't want it but I didn't want Lupron or one of the other menopause injections, so thought it was the better option.... at that time :/ I think now I'm thinking it may be a bit traumatic to have it out. Bit scared of more 'work' down there!!
Hi Laura
I had my mirena fitted in June and have also had a horrible time with severe spasms and cramps to the point it has had me in tears. Seeing my doctor Thursday and hoping to get it removed although know how good it can be for endo. Difficult to know how long is long enough to try let it settle but the pain can be unbearable. Sorry to hear you have had a hard time with it too x
I know, it's difficult isnt it. I've had to take time off work because spasms have been bad, or have actually been at work and had them come on and have been screaming quietly in agony - I can't say to my colleagues 'oh just another mirena spasm!' I hope your dr will remove yours - I read that only approx 50% of women 'get on' with mirena whilst the other half really dont. My sis had it and had no problem she's surprised at my experience. Hope you feel better soon!! x
Thankyou. Here's hoping when I get it out I'll notice a difference xx
