Massive weight gain
Hi hun.
Are you sure that this is weight gain hun.
I only ask as I'm 2 weeks in to my first zoladex injection a week ago I got taken in to hospital because feet swelled up really bad and I started getting pins and needles they let me go home after a few hours and said it was a reaction to the zoladex.
This got a bit better for a few days and then Wednesday I really swelled up again my feet are huge, but I literally have swelling everywhere it's making me look much bigger than my usual size.
I hope you don't mind me asking.
Jo xx
Thanks for the reply mumm1982 I'm a bit confused about ur reply lol the scales say iv put weight on but its mainly around my tummy I look about 7 months pregnant ðŸ˜
I'm 2 weeks into zoladex (the monthly injection) and tibilone, havnt had any weight gain yet xxx
I am having my first injection next Thursday and hoping I won't be gaining weight as I am being braidmaid for my sister in a few month. I already have the coil which has stopped me losing weight and gained half a stone since October but can't lose it. How long have you got to have Zoladex for? Is it helping with the pain? Sorry you feel down
Hi
I've been on both zoladex and livial add back for almost 2.5 years and haven't gained any weight. Have you keep daily food diaries where you write down exactly what you eat and drink as an extra 200 calories a day over 3-4 months is enough to gain weight if you don't burn it off each day moving around or are already. Hope that helps
Tin79bell do they make sure you have a negative pregnancy test each time you have your injection, I still have to be tested each time I have mine at the hospital as it is still possible to get pregnant whilst on it. Just a thought
It may be a reaction I lost weight with these after hysterectomy on tibolone and been okay xx
prob your reaction to zoledex I would still get checked out
Oh ok Tink79bell just me thinking outside the box with the pregnancy thing. Have they given you a scan to make sure there are no cysts? X
Snap . I'm on zoladex and look like a beached whale!! Swollen feet, aching joints, weight gain plus started to have periods???. Have my 5th injection to look forward to soon. ...not. feel for everyone.
Hi I didn't put any weight on with the zoladex injections , I know this as I had no HrT for a month in month 4, I did however change my HRT 3 times ! To find the right one ! Tribilon HRT may change body weight ! It gives u an increased appetite I changed my HRT to patches started 25g and worked my way upto 75g I felt much more better on patches , it's kinder on the stomach too, I was much less bloated hope that helps for you x
It's not the zoladex that makes you bloated it's the add back of hormones ! The injections take 2-3 months for your body to really work and switch off after then you will loose water retention and probably some weight if you get you HRT levels right
Hi I was on zoladex for 6 months 4 years ago. Livial was added back after about 2 months and I instantly put on weight which felt around my stomach - I could feel the bloating it was very odd indeed. I stopped the livial after about 10 days and it all went again. I then re-started the Livial again after about 4 months because of the zoladex side effects but It did the same thing within a few days so I stopped again. The whole 6 months was fairly grim. I am absolutely sure that for me it was the livial not the zoladex that caused the problems (zoladex caused other problems but weight gain was absolutely not one!) Best wishes.
Hi, I was in zoladex for three months, without hrt as it made me so nauseous. I gained a stone and a half! had crippling knee pains and it generally did a lot more harm than good. However I quickly shed the weight once my hormone levels returned to normal and dropped a stone and a half!
Hello, I had zoladex for 4 months with the livial, I put on a done and a half, mostly around my tummy but also on my arms and other places that I never usually gain weight. I then had my excision op before Christmas and was off work for 3 months after, put on another half a stone sitting down and eating over Christmas! I tried to look it up and a lot of breast cancer sufferers have similar treatments and it is a side effect. I joined slimming world with a friend as I just couldn't shift it (again unusual) and lost neRly everything in about 3 months and it was easy. Don't be hard on yourself, be kind to yourself. Give yourself time to get through the treatment and when it's all finished try and get back on top of it. I feel SO much more confident and comfortable now. Good luck xx
Hi tink
I was taking Tibilone for only a few months and put on over a stone. I went to see my GP and she told me to "stop taking it then" !!!
I did indeed stop taking it and the weight has started to come off again. I thought the Tibilone was helping with the periods so this month when my monthly started and I was in agony, I started taking it again. Saw the GP who said it wasn't for that and has now put me on cerazette to regulate the periods. I feel like I am back to square one!!
Over the years my weight has fluctuated greatly; at my best moment (and post-hysterectomy) I managed to lose nine stone to get down to around fourteen stones and a size 14/16 which I was happy with. Now, I think I'm up to around twenty-two stones because I can barely move and - to be fair - I eat when I'm bored which because I can't get out and about anymore is frequently! When I was on zoladex and other hormone treatments, I used to find that my weight went up even though my eating habits had not changed - I think some of it is as a result of water retention so avoid tea and coffee and definitely avoid fizzy drinks like cola as this made me really bloated.
Hi,
I have been having zoladex injection for two years. In August is my last one as doctor says that studies show that zoladex just works for two years. I have hot flashes, joint pain (mild) and I have gained a lot of weight around my waist. I have always been slim so it's hard. I eat very healthily now after having breast cancer three years ago but I'm sure the weight gain is due to the medication. I'm sure is the normal side effect of the menopause. I'm also taking Tamoxifen.
Next month will be my last injection and I'm hoping to go back to what I was before... If only!
