Juicing for endo...

Hey everyone,

I'm sure lots of you have tried various endo related diets - I know I've been on and off the endo diet band wagon plenty of times! I've just had my second lap, now on the list for a combined surgery, and have pretty severe deep infiltrating endo. I hate the idea of having operation after operation, and am willing to try pretty much anything else that might make my life with endo more manageable! I recently tried juicing - I followed the Jason Vale 5 day programme. I think there have been other posts about him on here.

It was pretty tough going (nothing but freshly extracted vegetable and fruit juices for 5 days) but I have to say I felt the best I have in a long time from about day 2 onwards. I know there are all sorts of criticisms of the plans, but I think he makes some really good points about eating habits, and the amount of processed food we all consume. For me it's really made the connection between eating junky food and feeling depressed, having no energy and higher pain levels. It's not a wonder cure, and for me it didn't make all the pains go away completely but it certainly reduced them right down. I think the main thing was feeling happier with more energy was such a relief!

Anyway the reason I mention it is that on the JuiceMaster website they are promoting a summer detox thing, and he's offering all the recipes and coaching videos for free - a good way to give it a go if you fancy it.

It's a 7 day one this time - to start in July. I've signed up for it - and I'd be really interested to know if anyone else wanted to do it as well, for some moral support during the week, and to see if it helped others with their symptoms too.

What do you think?

xx

Hi hun.

I haven't followed the plan that you are writing about but I make my own green juice with mostly vegetables and a small amount of fruit to try and keep the amount of sugar low.

I sometimes do a week where I have 2 juices a day, one for breakfast and one for lunch.

I have found that if I stick to it then I have less pain in my body, I know it gets hard to stick to it but I've found adding ginger and cinnamon to the juice makes it taste better.

Hope it all works well for you.

Thanks Jo - that's a really good idea about adding cinnamon - I do put fresh ginger in them which makes it much tastier.

Glad it helps you a bit too,

xx
