My doctor says that i should get the merina coil when i am in surgery for my laparoscopy. Has anybody else had this and was it beneficial? He says this can improve the endometriosis and make it less reoccurring?

I had mine fitted during surgery and although it didn't make my periods less, it is doing some sort of job. I had mine fitted in May 2013. Every person is different though x

Hi lovely.

I think the Mirena is a love it or hate it thing. I personally had 2 and had a bad experience with them they told me it can take up to 6 months to settle and you may spot during that time, I only got to 3 months because I bleed constantly and heavily and had a lot of other side effects weight gain, pelvic pain, back pain and acne.

There are others that love it though and it has stopped there period and the pain.

I think you need to read as you can about it to make a informed choice.

I hope this helps

Everyone will react differently to it Hun, I had mine fitted in January and when I researched it I found it was 50/50. My personal experience is it didn't make any difference to me but if you don't try you'll never know, good luck!

I love the Mirena and am on my third. I wish I'd had it in my 20's! It does take time to settle but completely stopped my bleeding which was brilliant as my periods were very heavy. Be wawe that for helping endo pain you may need to get it changed more frequently than the five years recommended for contraceptive purposes. At the end of the day if you don't get on with it you can have it removed.

Hi. I had mine fitted during my lap too and it didn't work for me. It helped with the endo, as I had a second lap and it had been reduced, however I experienced constant cramping and felt awful the whole time. I had mine removed during my second surgery and was out back on the pill. Am feeling soooo much better now. It is worth a try as I know some people find it perfect for them, but it isn't for everyone. If it isn't working for you, just be very forceful with your doctor as they are sometimes reluctant to take it back out! Good luck x

In my experience it is good in the long run but first few months are hell.
