Laparoscopy.. And worried..

Hey ladies I have a diagnostic laparoscopy on Friday and my pre op was useless.. Does anyone know how long I cannot eat or drink for before my operation as I was never told?...

Also I'm very worried iv had bloods which showed something was swollen in my body then a month later was still swollen but getting better.. (Can endo do this?)

And also I struggle to wee as my bladder feels tight towards the end I have severe back ache.. And can have excruciating left ovary pain.. Iv no energy and have most stump toms including painful sex when deep...

However ATM I'm on a better wee so very scared they may find nothing??

Does anyone also suffer from more thick gluey discharge with endo or could this be my marvellon pill? Thankyou xxxx

There should be a phone number on the paper work for the gynae ward you are to report to. Give them a call and find out about the stopping eating drinking for your op. It varies depending on what time your op is scheduled, and some ladies have a bowel prep the night before to clean them out, many also need a blood thinner injection the night before which you may need to go to hosp to get done or would have been given to you to self administer. That one depends on your risks for blood clots.

Write down a list of your questions to remind you as you talk it through with a ward nurse.

Trying to remember what mine was and i think it was nothing to eat or drink after 8pm but i was 2nd in theatre in the morning, and i had a clexane injection too the night before but I wasn't asked to clear out the bowels.

if you get dry mouth and thirsty - small sips of water or swilling water round the mouth is allowed. Likewise if you need to take pain meds with food - ask if that is permitted.

did you mention bladder probs to the staff nurse at pre-op? if not then do write that down to remind you to mention it to your surgeon when you see him or her before the op. They may decide it's better for you to have a catheter in for the op and just afterwards to help you pee.

The catheter doesn't hurt but does feel odd, and it's a blessing not having to struggle to the bathroom when you are coming round from the op.

Give them a call now, or tomorrow morning to find out what they want you to be doing preparation wise. Very best of Luck with the op.
