HI, does anyone know where I can purchase an abdominal belt to use after I have hysterectomy please? Thank you.
Abdominal belt: HI, does anyone know where... - Endometriosis UK
Abdominal belt
Mothercare is where mum got mine. It did come with a baby bump fabric pouch that could be cut off or tucked in, but certainly in the first couple of weeks it did offer great support after a laparotomy hole across the bikini line and major work done inside.
I wore mine over trousers, under a big jumper, rather than bulking out even more inside trousers.
Simply a wide band of strong elastic with sturdy velcro fastening at the back.
I didn't need it after a fortnight or so, as by them it was more a nuisance than a help.
Just been online and they don't seem to stock it anymore, they do have a pricey ceasarian belt instead !!
Amazon have several - look for c-section support belt, baby bump belt, and that sort of thing. You could try ebay for 2nd hand ones. you won't need them for long, and they are washable. Mine has been leant out twice since i had it, both times to ladies who had had c-sections, so ask around any friends who have had a c-section or hysterectomy to see if they have a spare belt sitting in a drawer.
Mum bought mine and it was about £10 three years ago.
There are a couple going cheap on ebay right now. You do not want the big waist line truss sort, just an belt that is about 4 inches wide to strap around the hips where the work was done, to stop the feeling of your insides falling out when you stand up and to give a bit of support on the loo when you need to bear down for a poop and the cut tummy muscles are not able to do anything but hurt.
on amazon there is a very similar one to mine

that's the sort of size you need. Not the huge girdle sort.
Some of the prices being charged for corsetry blows my brain cells- yikes !!
Great! Thank you very much x
