Abdominal ultrasound

Hiya,Would just like people's views/experiences on if endo will be picked up on an ultrasound or the abdomen.

I've had pelvic mri before which picked up endo everywhere and I'm awaiting surgery (endo, hysterectomy and bowel).

I've not got abdomen pains so they've got me down for an ultrasound.

I feel I've defo got it there but scared it won't be picked up and they will just leave that area when it comes to surgery.

Thankyou

I've had two ultra sounds and both were pretty rubbish and vague. They picked up fibroids but nothing else. They certainly didn't pick up that endo lesions has fused my cervix to my bowel. I had a 10 cm fibroid removed without them knowing that information! I think that women going in for a hysterectomy should have an MRI. There are too many stories of surgeons not knowing what they are facing. Mu surgeon was shocked. I was down for day surgery and he wasn't expecting endo lesions. If I'd had an MRI they would have known so perhaps push for another one.

Thankyou sunset lady. I'm lucky I had an mri so they know how bad it is but who knows what's going on in my abdomen. I know its more expensive but surely the surgeons need to know what they are tackling. I have another gynecologist appointment in December so can push for an mri.

I had an ultrasound for a suspected ovarian cyst. Turns out my ultrasound picked up kissing ovaries, endometriomas & endometriosis. It can happen & was a total shock for me as I had no idea but that ultrasound started my endo journey. Good luck!

Thankyou pretty rainbows. I too had an ultrasound which found my endometrioma and they struggled to find one ovary. So mri picked up endo in POD, on ligaments, bowel, kissing ovaries and also adenomyosis. We will see what shows up but thankyou for your info and support

Only my lap picked up endo for me . Had to have an mri after lap as they wanted to know how badly my organs are effected by deep infiltrating endo . Hope this helps maybe ask for a mri of pelvis xx

Thankyou cococupid, yes i have had a pelvis mri. Now I have pains in my abdomen. It sounds like MRIs are the best for finding endo. 😔
