Is there an endo diet?

I find that when I eat certain foods my endo flares up twice as strong. I have researched so many different diet options, but it would be nice to know if anyone finds certain foods a god send or a definite no no.

Hi there - I find that if I eat bread or carbs gives me a flare so I only eat a limited amount for only a treat. I am lucky as I am able to buy aloe vera yoghurt where I live which I find cooling and helps with my bloating days.

How about you?

From my experience it seems that pre-endometriosis diagnosis often involves mis-diagnosis or suspected IBS or coeliac disease. Wheat/ gluten free diet definitely makes me feel better. I got tips from a coeliac to avoid drinking barley (in some squash) and avoid modified maze starch - this is in things like gravy/ sauces and because it's liquid based it gets into your system quicker. Both these tips helped me.

Key things is to persist with trying diet tips. If you try anything I'd advise you try it for 2 weeks before giving up.

Dairy, wheat, gluten and excess coffee makes me flare up no end! Before i even found out i had endo i had food intolerance tests and was told to cut down or even eliminate these, which did me the world of good. I have them for the occassional treat but soon regret it afterwards xx

I was diagnosed with IBS for years before they realised I had severe stage 4 endo and was sent to a dietician for that. She put me on the FODMAP diet which worked for almost a year. My symptoms were bareable in that time and it really helped my body to process the foods that I ate. Alot of my endo probs were caused by poor digestion due to adhesions and or scar tissues. Even now (1 year post op to remove a grapefruit size cyst and ovary, amongst other things) I still take movicol (laxative) every day and this has made a huge difference for me. The FODMAP diet is very radical as it eliminates anything that u prob used regular or liked, BUT the difference was amazing for me. Here's the link so have a look... it's well worth a try. kcl.ac.uk/medicine/research... Good luck xx

I find that sugary food and all the other usual suspects can trigger pain and cramping.

I recently bought The Endometriosis Diet from Amazon Books but am yet to really give it much attention.

Another good book I have used is 'Cooking Without' and there is a meat and meat free edition.

I think a food intolerence test sounds like it's worth a shot, can Bez76 or anyone suggest who to see for this?

Much love

Thank you everyone for your answers. I am finding the same, eg: Wheat, caffeine, sugary foods. I leave them alone and start to feel better for it but then I lapse and end up regretting it. Think it just all lies in determination and will power. Thankyou to those who have provided links, I shall take a look at those :) x
