hi all I have been on this sight for my husband who had prostate cancer and robotic prostatectomy 4 years ago. Due to very slight rise in PSA they did a Pet scan which showed kidney cancer, what a shock no symptoms at all, apparently until late stages there is no symptoms. Anyway he has had Nephrectomy and awaiting scan and blood results next week to ensure no cancer cells are anywhere else in body . Has been very well through out.
Now it’s me. I’m a fit 75 yr old lady exercise and only have thyroxine for hypothyroidism for many years . Recently had usual annual test for thyroxine levels and GP said my U&E showed I have chronic kidney disease stage 3, I’m shocked. He told me not to worry this is common as we get older and will monitor me every 6 months. My B/P is low I don’t drink smoke etc. of course I worry such a lot of information on internet says 4-6 years life expectancy. Considering I’m so active and no symptoms of anything it is depressing. My creatinine is 85 and GFR 58. I reckon my lab here rated me high stage 3 what do you all think?
I now wonder do I have to look at my diet.
Ricky do you have to change your diet with one kidney as my husband has no idea.? Can he carry on enjoying his food as before Nephrectomy.
Thank you all in anticipation
