My diabetes reading is always between 9-12 fasting, first thing in morning. Is this a normal reading? Thank you in advance, this is my first post.

Hi Gab_turner ,

Have you talked with your doctor about your blood sugars? Did they say anything about counting carbs. for your meals and snacks? When doing the conversation for your blood sugars, 216 and 162 is a little high depending on the person. Everyone is different— same as Diabetes. For example, I can drop really fast, so my Endocrinologist has me in the upper 100’s-low 200’s. I hope this helps!😀👍

Fasting Blood Glucose readings between 9 and 12 mmol/L is not normal. It is considered very high. You should go to Doctor for further tests.

For a non-diabetic : the Fasting blood glucose should be between 4 - 5.6.

Pre diabetic: 5.7 - 6.9

Diabetic: 7 and above.

Those who are confirmed diabetics (type 2) they are generally advised to keep their fasting blood glucose level between 5 and 7 using diet and medications.
