Wow! What a crazy day I've had today with the DEXCOM and the sensor from Monday. I can't believe that the sensor couldn't handle working more than a few days (today is still Thursday!). It's one thing to be woken up out of a sound sleep because the alarm for going down to 80 and below went off at 4 am, but being woken up at that same time and finding out that you're blood sugar isn't 69 and having two straight arrows pointing down wasn't correct! I had done my test using the Breeze2 monitor that I have been using now for almost 10+ years and it said that I was 173 mg/dl! After the arrows had stopped going straight down, I was able to recalibrate and go back to bed. The bad part was, after calibration had taken, the numbers and arrows had completely went away and came back around 6 am. I did another calibration at 7 am because I did my morning breakfast testing, anyway and it turns out that the number at that time was very off, as well. I was supposedly in the upper 300's on the DEXCOM, but on the Breeze2 I was 134 mg/dl. Very strange!

¡Wow!

When I had gotten to the Senior Center for the day, I had called DEXCOM's Tech. Support and explained what had been going on. They said that they'd send the new free sensor to me overnight. I also had asked "Why if there's four sensors in a box, why would two go bad fast if they have the same lot numbers?". I was told that it could be because of how the sensor was/wasn't able to pick up the numbers that it should've been reporting. I was also asked for some of the information on the reciever and read it off to the Rep.. I explained that I was at work and didn't have another sensor to change at the time. The sensors are at home for most of the time and I don't have the box to read off from that the bad sensor was from at the moment. I told the Rep. that I was going to change the sensor first thing when I got home this afternoon-- which I had done.

Along with a call to DEXCOM this morning, I also found out that the sensor stopped reporting midway through the day before I had to leave for the day. The question marks and hour glass were popping up here and there. I hate the hour glass because that makes me wonder if there's any hope that the numbers would show up. Not much luck this time, unfortunately!

I had put the new sensor in around 3:40 pm, so I already did the calibrations after the warm up period had completed. I'm probably getting up around 5:40 am tomorrow, but that depends on what happens tonight before going to bed.

Wow, you have been having a time with sensors! I'm sorry you had such a time today. I did my second insertion of the dexcom sensor by myself today. That went fine but the application of the transmitter again was troublesome. I've watched a bunch of videos and everything seems to go so smoothly. I'm not sure how to use that piece that helps you place it, the one you twist off at the end? I got frustrated and twisted it off before the transmitter was placed and then finally got it in on my own. I'm still in my 2 hour waiting period so I will let you know what happens.

The piece/latch you twist off comes off after you get the two clicks for the transmitter to stay in place the right way. You get rid of the twist off latch and the part that's big--- not the transmitter. Did you get in touch with the Support Tech.?

I can't seem to make the twist off piece help me to place the transmitter. Lord I know not to toss away the transmitter. I'm just frustrated. I do have the number for Tech support but am waiting to see if this is going to work.
