Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great day/evening so far.

Sorry for the delay in typing this posting, but I've been away on a mini vacation and just got back this afternoon. It was quite a nice break for a week.

While I was on my vacation to the beach, I brought the DEXCOM with me and lucky me, I brought 3 extra sensors with me just in case I would need a new one inserted. Turns out, I was smart and did that because the sensor I had been using since Monday of this week finally stopped working last night (Thursday dinner time-- 6:15 pm USA time). When it got to be 9:15 pm, I called DEXCOM and the Support Tech who answered the phone told me that I would not be charged for getting a new sensor sent to me by tomorrow evening (Saturday) since it's not my fault that the senosr had stopped doing its job. I told the Support Tech Rep. that the receiver kept showing me question marks and an hour glass baclk and forth. Eventually, I ended up replacing the sensor since it never started working, again. I never was told that the sensor failed, either. I call this a "Deep Sleep" since the DEXCOM never woke up before I had to go to bed.

Speaking of sleep, since I had to change sensors, I ended up going to bed around 11:30 pm. That was when I had to do the two calibrations to get the new sensor up and running. So far, this new sensor is working out nicely, but I won't hold my breath. If it does last for the seven days like it should, I'll be very happy. I'll let you know what happens when I can.

Since I have the DEXCOM system, it is not possible to go in the ocean's water. The receiver is NOT waterproof and I don't know what salt water would do to the system if I had gone into the ocean. I usually just sit on the beach and do some reading and watch the waves. It's the only down side to having technology attached to you!

Well, I better go for right now. More news to come soon. Keep on reading!

Bien, mejor voy para ahora mismo. Más noticias para venir pronto. ¡Siga leyendo!

For the first time I had the hour glass show up and questions marks. It was late and I just could not stay up. Checked my numbers and added a little more carbs. for cushion insulin sensitive, I drop at nights very low. Replaced the sensor in the morning and it has been working well. I hope this continues.

Best wishes to you on yours.

Would be interesting to see a poll on duration of individual sensors and see how long they can last. Less than 7 days, 7 days or more.

So, you want a poll on the DEXCOM system? I'll have to see what can be done. Thank you for the suggestion!

I've had great promise with mine most of the time. Can last over 7 days before change, have added tape and bathed with the DEXCOM I take very long and hot showers without adding tape. This summer I would love to jump in the pool it has been so hot.

Make sure the receiver is not too far away when you're in the pool. Don't get it wet!😀
