My latest test results creatinine 3.7

Hi all.. my test results indicate serum creatinine as 3.7.. bp fluctuations regularly varying from 110/80 to 170/100.. urine is very foamy. 24 hour urine protein test indicates 3.2 gms.. I couldn't remember the units. When asked about urine albumin loss, the doctor said it can't be cured. However for protein leakage in urine, the doctor says time is still there for starting steroids usage for it. I have started walking regularly for 3 km per day.. slow walking. And feeling well with BP. Any guidance in managing creatinine and bp is welcome. Thank you all for your support in dealing with CKD.

Your creatinine is unacceptably high and your doctor must have told you a lot about it.In my little knowledge, the remedy lies in making drastic changes in diet so as to reduce the work load on kidneys. My creatinine level was slightly higher than reference range and was advised to limit salt intake drastically.Pickles and papads were totally banned.Probably,in your case, salt and many other food items may need to be avoided.More than the doctor,a dietician's advise will be helpful to you. Please find a good dietician, preferably attached to a kidney specialist hospital.

Creatinine can be up to 1.2 mg . High value indicates kidney damage . GRF -- glomeruler filtration rate should be improved to recover the kidney function . By reducing protein intake ,excess salt , foods rich in phosphorus & potassium and by eating fiber rich foods it could be corrected . Even too much exercises have to be stopped . Foods with high saturated fats would also cause this problem . Consuming too less Sodium also is detrimental to health . The average recommended salt consumption is 3 gms per day .In case of too high creatinine level it can come down to 1.5 grams till such time creatinine levels come to normalcy .

Uncontrolled diabetes and hypertension may cause kidney problems.

The nephrons in the kidneys are supplied with a dense network of blood vessels, and high volumes of blood flow through them. Over time, uncontrolled high blood pressure can cause arteries around the kidneys to narrow, weaken or harden. These damaged arteries are not able to deliver enough blood to the kidney tissue.

You may need to make changes to your diet when you have chronic kidney disease (CKD). These changes may include limiting fluids, eating a low-protein diet, limiting salt, potassium, phosphorous, and other electrolytes, and getting enough calories if you are losing weight.

Please note that there is no cure for kidney failure. The aim of medical treatment is to stop further deterioration of kidney function. For end stage kidney failure, transplantation of kidney is the only solution.

To reduce your protein leakage , the best solution is to control your BP.

The most important drug to reduce urinary protein is Telmisartan. Has your doctor given you this drug ?? Telmisartan is an ARB which is very safe for you. please consult a nephrologist who would put you on Telmisartan 80 mg. If required he may add another drug called Amlodipine CCB. May be the latest generation ARB called Azilsartan could also be prescribed by your doctor which is very effective in controlling your Urinary protein and may help controlling your Creatinine. If all these drugs have been tried , then the steroid called methyl prednisolone would be helpful in slowing progression.

If you have atherosclerosis, perhaps it may be possible of calicification of your kidney. In that case Vitamin K2 MK4 in high doses 15 mg per day would be helpful in decalcification of kidney. Vitamin k2 MK4 is not available in India and you need to import from USA where such Vitamin K2 MK4 is being given for decalcification and many people seems to have got relief. Please consult your doctor and be guided accordingly .

You should now be under the care of a nephrologist from a reputed Hospital like Apollo who would be helpful in arresting the progression.

May God bless you.
