Get your full blood test done at the lab before making any change in your diet or starting any treatment. Get FBS, 2hr PP BS and HbA1c done at the minimum. That will give you full picture of your metabolic disorder and accordingly you can take suitable actions.

Welcome ! There is a big difference between the 2. T1 your pancreas does not work. T2 it may work 20% or 80%. If someone weighs 20 stn there organs get surrounded with fat. Good luck !
