I have reduced my snacking on fruits, reduced starchy vegetables and legumes to a minimum, added half teaspoon of Amul Ghee to my lunch of chama rice, started taking egg and cheese with long wheat puttu along with a couple of spoons of grated coconut, and half a small banana for breakfast. ( reduced banana and Puttu)
Had a mid morning gooseberry juice with salt and some sunflower seeds.
My fasting blood sugar is always within range and it was 95 in the morning. Today's other figures : Post breakfast 117, post lunch again 117 ( had one banana and a segment of pomelo with tea) and post dinner ( chama, rasam, vegetable, a teaspoon of raw banana thoran, 2 small curry cut pieces chicken ) it is 131. I also had 3 segments of a small orange. (all PPBS figures between 90 minutes to 2 hours )
I am taking 16 IU Lantus shot in the morning. My pre lunch BS was 91. I feel light headed and headachy, but not hungry. Took 3 spoons of brine from the gooseberry pickle jar as I have been drinking plenty of water and could be losing salts. This contains salt as well as minerals and extracts of gooseberry, garlic etc in the pickle.
Do you think that I can reduce Insulin to 14 units?
I have not added much fats except 1/2 tsp ghee. The egg I used to have three times a week and I used to add Rubco Virgin Coconut Oil to my breakfast along with cinnamon powder on most days. We cook with coconut oil. What I have reduced is the legumes and pulses. I used to eat half a cup in various preparations.
On the long wheat packets of Nirapara and Double Horse, they report that it is a low carb grain.

Remember insulin load is more insulin resistance you must overcome from trap of insulin by following lchf diet & can take weekly one day fasting. Fasting means you can take black coffee with virgin coconut oil & liquid etc otherwise insulin's most side effect gradually you need to increase unit & you will more & more obese.
Thank you. You are very kind. I think I might have been taking lots of fat already with fried vegetables and chips ( coconut oil) . Egg, chicken and ghee as well as cheese and coconut oil for cooking and grated coconut are all full of fat. No way of measuring but I will go for a lab test to know the progress or worsening.
I was on Diamicron MR 60., Glucomet 500 and Lantus 24 units and my HbA1 c was 7.5. I was often ravenous, had fluctuating blood sugar, fatigue, numb feet. When I tried to change my diet, the doctor was not very welcoming. So I changed it myself and reduced and eliminated oral medication and just have Lantus shots @ 16 units on the morning. There is no change in my HbA1 C. In fact it came down to 7.2
It is some time since I checked hbA1C. But my Fasting has come down from 135 to 70-95 range and PPBS in 150-180 range from above 200. My problem is the abundance of home grown fruits. We distribute but still keep some. Now I am restricting my fruit intake.
My fasting BS today was 85 and PPBS 110. I had reduced Lantus to 14. I check after every meal now and will do so till I stabilise. Then, I shall go for my lab tests.
One doctor told my husband that my diabetes is not too bad if I can eat fruits and still maintain 7.2 with just 14 units of Lantus..
Had I been consulting my endocrinologist, I would be on 2 types of insulin plus tablets and statins and possibly Blood Pressure medications now.
Even if I die in this effort, I do not mind. It is my body.
Thank you for your concern. But twice doctors have caused my illnesses to worsen, once by diagnosing me with some neurological problem for a foot injury and putting me on medications that caused me very bad side effects.
My grand father, aunt, nephew, sister, brother in law, are all allopathic doctors. They are good in their fields. But they are not open to other healing practices and go by their dated texts. The limitations of research and biased conclusions are evidenced by the New Castle Cure, which is only a partial addressing of one aspect of diabetes. As Ayurvedics say, there are many types.
I am sorry and I apologise for asking opinion when already I had made up my mind. Fed up of needles.

Nothing wrong in bouncing the ball off a wall.
Most of the Doctors think that there is cause for some worry, if & only if the HbA1c is above 7.
For approximate measurement of the amount of Carbs, Fats & Proteins that you are having on a daily basis, try out myfitnesspal.com, in case you have not already done so.
One thing that is puzzling is, your FBS & PPBS readings are good & within the range. So what is the cause for the High HbA1c ? Need to think about it.
That said, I personally feel, you are on the right path of self-experimentation & self-monitoring.
If you have recently reduced your carb intake then it could result in slight headache. But normally it vanishes over the time. And you are right that you could be loosing salts. On low carb if insulin levels are very low then one may loose salts through urine.
My personal experience indicates that one can afford to reduce insulin by two units in each dose if the bs level indicates as written by you . After a certain stage you can afford to be a better judge of your diet routine and medecations .
Perhaps I ought to check HbA1C at two labs at one time and compare.

That would definitely give an idea.
Have seen a variation of 0.8 between 2 labs, when tested on the same day.
That apart, just check your sugar, 1 hour after beginning to eat your food & see what the readings are. Perhaps, there is heavy spiking, which is later taken care of, by the medicines that you are taking.

Thanks
@mra13., congrats sir., keep going well. i wish to follow suit soon..
It looks that yr sugar management is excellent. Once this level is achieved, you can vary the Lantus by 2 units, check sugar values again after 2 weeks. what are yr diabetic tablets medication. Are you not taking reguar insulin apart from Lantus?
I do not use any rice products except on rare occasions, no wheat except Samba wheat and no white flour or bread. I use chama rice ant 1/4 cup for lunch. Of course I eat vegetables. Now I have dropped all root vegetables from my diet.
