Hi all,

@George: I'm very much impressed with the kind of results you have achieved with only slightest change in the diet. Even I want to try LWMDR. A brief history about me is below.

Sex: Male

Age: 28 completed

Height: 172 cms

Weight in June - July: 105 Kg (i dont know my weight during sept when diabetes was diagnosed)

Smoking: Avg 10 Ciggs per day since 2004

Drinking: Since 2007 very frequently

Diagnosis: First episode of uneasiness on 20th Aug' 2014 like vertigo (spinning head), sweat, BP slightly high. Second episode same things repeated on 1st Sept' 2014. Went to a local physician and he did random sugar test in a small device

Date: 1st Sept - Random sugar 295

Date: 2nd Sept - FBS 203 & PPBS 377

I was officially diabetic now :)

What i did after diagnosis: Since 2nd Sept

1) Quit Rice

2) Quit Sweets (anyways i didnt liked it)

3) Quit Potatoes and other starchy vegetables (no problem in that)

4) Quit Smoking completely (I was almost dead with the withdrawal symptoms)

5) Quit booze completely

6) Started morning jogging/walk for 45-60 mins (no problem in that)

7) Started chewing neem leaves 2-3 daily.

8) One tbsp of soaked overnight methi seeds everyday

9) 4 slitted Ladyfingers water soaked overnight everyday

After 15 days again i did the FBS & PP and also did HbA1C

Date: 16th Sept - FBS 130 & PPBS 199

HbA1C: 9.6%

After that I stopped things like neem leaves, methi seeds, and ladyfinger water thinking that my sugar can go down. I continued rest of things and again did a test after a month in october.

Date: 17th Oct - FBS 108 & PPBS 179.5

Then later in the month of October 2014 i had dengue and i lost lot of weight. I weighed 88 kg during that time. My mom told me to start eating everything. I started eating rice, fruits, dry fruits, milk etc and came to 94kg.

After that in the month of Nov I did the test.

Date: 2nd Nov - FBS 118 & PPBS 181.9

HbA1C: 7%

So after this test I again went back to my normal routine of strict diet and jogging. But i did not start neem leaves, methi and all.

Now my yesterdays report came

Date: 12th Dec - FBS 92.2 & PPBS 89.3 (I'm concerned coz fasting is higher than PP)

I currently weigh 91 kg and still obese. I want to loose more fat and make myself fit. Also i want to cure my diabetes with LWMDR. Please suggest.

Also from 23rd Nov I started drinking 180 ml of diet whiskey like once or twice a week.

Please suggest people about my condition above.

Please Note: I have not taken a single tablet or medicine. Neither Allopathic nor homeopathic and nor ayurvedic.

Regards

Bipin

See if your BS levels remain in line with those on 12th of Dec. There is no reason to worry about Lower PPBS than FBS. Looking at your weight you could be possibly insulin resistant. What are your lipid levels?

To loose weight you need to control calories and first step should be to lower carb intake.

Reducing carb will lower your weight and will keep your BS under control.

thebipinsingh in reply toshrisamarth

@shrisamarth . What is insulin resistant? Is it serious? my lipids were high during diagnosis. Cholestrol was 202 and triglycerides was 193. After jogging and diet my latest lipid in nov was cholestrol 136 but triglycerides was 226. I have been avoiding deep fry and oily stuffs since couple of months.

Why did you ask about lipid levels? Are they related to diabetes or BS?

When cells do not respond to insulin for glucose uptake it is called as insulin resistance. Triglyceride/HDL ratio predicts insulin resistance. If the ratio is more than 3.5 then the person is said to be insulin resistant.

Total cholesterol no. is useless in diagnosing anything whether it is 202 or 136. TG no. of 226 is high. What is your HDL level?

Hi shrisamarth,

Thanks for the valuable information. Now it completely makes sense to me. Below is my past 2 Lipid reports. Please suggest a diet based on below stats. Also I'm confused whether to start LCHF or LWMDR? Anyways I'm already on LCHF except I eat chapati close to 8-10 per day during lunch and dinner 4-5 each.

Date: 2nd Sept' 2014

Cholesterol: 220

Triglyceride: 198

HDL Cholesterol: 30

LDL Cholesterol: 150

VLDL: 39.6

Chol/HDL Ratio: 7.33

LDL/HDL Ratio: 5.01

Date: 2nd Nov' 2014

Cholesterol: 167.4

Triglyceride: 266.2

HDL Cholesterol: 28.1

LDL Cholesterol: 110.5

VLDL: 28.8

Chol/HDL Ratio: 5.9

LDL/HDL Ratio: 3.9

Your HDL level is very low. TG/HDL ratio is very poor. 9.5 :(

Even LDL is high though compared to previous report it is less. The reason for your elevated TG is that you are consuming high carb diet. So to to correct lipids and to maintain BS levels you need to reduce carb intake. Long wheat can be alternative for regular chapati but you can not replace your entire chapati intake with it. LCHF would be better option. First start with low carb then slowly add fat and protein to your diet as per requirements. On LCHF you will loose weight also.

Thebipinsingh: Cigarettes and Whisky are bad for diabetics. If you can work to make your BMI respectable, reduce carbohydrate intake and eat small portions frequently, you could be in a different league.

Since 2005 I have thrice managed my Blood Glucose level without taking drugs! Within this year I brought my average down by 160 from 286 to 126. (In Jan 2014 my A1C was 11.6%, fasting > 200 and PP 295. In July my A1C was 6.0%)

I am 62 and I have put my diet cum workout details on this platform thrice.

Hi Noreal,

Thats really impressive. Maintaining BS at your age is really difficult and hats off to you.

I have quit smoking long back. It has been 4 month. I quit drinks too. I have recently started it and drink very rarely. I started it to cheer up in life. My life was hell from past couple of months since i was diagnosed.

Also can you help me with LCHF? like what can i eat daily.

Sir

Your diet is full of carbs. The morning channa or moong can be reduced. Chapathi has to be made of whole wheat. Add ghee and butter. Again all your other food is full of carbs. Add fat and reduce carb.

Please Stop smoking. Drinking vodka with plain water in a very slow manner and with out any snacks along with is OK.

Hi bipinsingh,

You are making good progress in controlling diabetes. Your present diet and LWMDR will not go together. To follow LWMDR, you will have to discontinue some of the things. Tell me if you are ready for that.
