Would you share with me what med you feel works 'best' for you?...if you tend to have both depression and anxiety.

I think its ok to ask this question! (I hope) I know our minds and bodies are respond differently, but just wondering what Rx YOU feel works best for you?? I have both depression and anxiety (much worse in the early mornings)...Anyway, THANKS for your responses.

I only take one .5 Ativan per day...once in awhile 2, (doesn't help THAT much at all...especially since Kaiser switched brands) and then try to make do with alternatives such as supplements and homeopathies... but sometimes really wish I a bit more 'help.'

Personally we cannot recommend medications for Depression, or Anxiety.

All I will say is we are all different and I take medications for pain control as well so they need to be careful what is given

Maybe I should have worded it differently...I didn't mean to sound like I was asking for a recommendation...only what worked best....

Yes I understood what you were asking. I will try an put an answer a different way

I take Citalopram and I have taken it for many years. I also take Amytryptalene for my Chronic Medical Condition, this is an AD, the difference is it is used to suppress Nuro damage to nerves, tendons and sheives that deliver movement to my body in various areas, this medication is classified as dirty, this is because there are better more inclusive medications to use. The use in my case is an unrelated side effect. In my case they need to give me Opiates so that needs to be taken into consideration as does my NSAID. medications as a script need to consider the patient and the medications they take on top of other drugs. MY Citalopram, I will be on them for life. It took two years to match my medications by Pain Clinic and Rhumi.

With discussing medications I am not a GP and I am tentative, discussing drugs here because of Policy. I am sorry to be vague, my medications work for me. I cannot say the same in your case. You may need to make informed decisions given by CPN, GP etc

Propranolol makes a big difference for anxiety for me. As ever, your GP is the place to start.

Thanks, Grace, Today my Dr suggested I try Celexa (Citalopram)!! and so I appreciate your words! I have tried Prozac, Zoloft, Mertazapine, and one other whose name I forgot cuz only on it for 4 days! Anyhow, Dr warned me it takes some getting used to...but I am willing to give it a go... I asked for sleeping pills because of such little sleep I'm getting, but he said, that would only 'cover up' the problem...that I needed to 'help my mind' than chances are I will sleep better. Made sense to me.

I think EVERYONE for their replies. Bless you all and have a GOOD wknd!! :)

Thanks, Grace...as I wrote to Bigup...right now things are WORSE...but for some they say this is normal...just have to tough it out and hang in there, so I will give it a try from 4 to 6 weeks... THEY ARE helping me sleep better at night, even tho I still take a .5 Ativan and a Unisom. :)

it was over ten years ago when i was on them and i felt so much better. im now 66 and i did try them again but felt so ill i could not continue but i dont think it was the anti depressants so much i think it was because i am ill with my liver and im so tired all the time, its good that they are helping you to sleep as sleep is so important. my sleep is terrible. i have had a bad night again i dont like sleeping pills as they make me feel bad the next day. i do have some. ativan are great for relaxing me i dont take any medication at the moment, wishing you well betty. love grace xoxoxo

Hope the citalopram helps.

All meds are different, antidepressants fall into different catagories too. Dependant on presenting symptoms.

GP always needed to discuss meds and changes in dose etc.

I personally have an interest in mental health, pharmacology too so do a lot of reading. But I'm not medically qualified. I just like understanding how these medications work, affect the body and the history of them. Because of this I have acquired some knowledge about various medications.

It is not my place to advise on medications but I feel sometimes I can help with basic information but it is always stated that it is from 'my understanding' or 'from what I've read'.

Lots of people have vast experience with various medications and personally I like input from people that have tried it or have knowledge about it.

We are not here to diagnose or prescribe but we can help people understand their medication sometimes.

I have suffered with depression and anxiety myself.

We can also learn to help ourselves by discussing medication, talking therapies and what has helped us and maybe what has not.

Best wishes 💗
