I made the decision to postpone my colonoscopy as I had Covid 2 weeks ago. I feel fine. Still have some lingering symptoms. But I feel about 85-90% fine
I made appointments with my cardiologist and my Primary physician. To rule anything else out.
I will also ask my gastro if there any other options other than colonoscopy, at least until I feel better.
I hope they can work with me as my anxiety is taking a toll on my body and mind.

I will never have another colonoscopy it was pure torture as in England they only give you light sedation it had to be aborted they rang me 1 month after and said they would give me propofol which put me to sleep so they could finish off. I've been in a right mess now for nearly 2 years when I was fine before never again!
I really don’t like the after effects after waking up. Here in the U.S. they give something similar to propofol. I had 3 colonoscopies since being diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. I don’t mind it cause im obviously sleeping thought it. But waking up very drowsy is what makes me very uncomfortable.
Propofol was brilliant the surgeon explained to me about them all as he knew I would have walked out unless I was asleep he said fentanyl which I had the 1st time was a sedative then next is propanol which you come round straight away no side effects at all then there's general which isn't nice when you're coming round. In the UK they normally don't put you to sleep but he knew what I had gone through, as they took 9 biopsies removed 5 polyps and I had a 22mm sessile polyp which they were tugging at and only took half away as was aborted due to the extreme pain. Propafol was fine but I have been housebound since as I was in continent with my bowels blood and mucous and was normal before all that totally fine, only just stopped after nearly 2 years.
I've just gone through this process and I hear you loud and clear, I had gas and air to help with this procedure and I couldn't handle the pain, they said they will do it under sedation but to be honest this " experience " has left a damaging affect even getting the other option , I'm going to ask if it can be done with a general anesthetic , or perhaps wait until I get my MRI scan done and perhaps they can say you don't need to have this done as we've managed to find out what the problem is, I've had numerous ailments some which were extremely painful, but I'm definitely not wanting this procedure done without some assurance I won't be crossing the pain levels experienced recently!😬
Ask them if you can have propofol it was brilliant they bring you round straight away its not general anaesthetic but you are definitely put under the surgeon recommended it I said if you don't put me out I will go home he said I give you my promise it was great no after effects at all, all the best x
Yes I'm waiting on the next appointment and I'll tell them I need to be knocked out and not the sedation method otherwise I'm probably going to refuse the method they are offering, I remember having sedation many years ago and I still remember it was extremely painful, I need to be not aware of anything, thanks for your reply
