Hi there, please try not to worry. The preparation isn’t pleasant, I’m not gonna lie! Make sure you stay as hydrated as possible. I had a terrible headache and advised my niece, who had her’s yesterday, to do the same. She still had a headache but not so bad. I don’t know where you are but here in UK you can ask for sedation but you will need to be collected afterwards and be with someone for 24 hours. I felt nothing at all during the procedure and everyone was very nice and reassuring. Gas and air is available in addition to the sedation if you do have discomfort. I had a bit of a flare afterwards but nothing awful and it was worth it to know what’s going on. I’m sure you will be fine. All the best 🤗

Hi do not worry keep calm which helps! They may offer a sedative which helps. I have had 6 and survived! Lots of luck it will be fine

I say enemas till clear is the way to go.

I feel your pain haast drinking that vile stuff, picolax is the way forward as it’s nothing like the amounts they want you to drink of moviprep.. you’ll be fine during colonoscopy, I choose sedative and occasionally have gas/air during if they reach the tricky stricture bits but honestly it’s not as bad as you’re imagining. Good luck

I couldn't tolerate Moviprep as it made me gag. So the next time I had a colonoscopy I was given Picolax. It's wonderful stuff and only two cups full to drink as opposed to 2 litres!

No need to worry. The prep is the worst. Once you've got through that, the rest is easy. Try to relax during the process and think about being somewhere you love. It doesn't take long. Good luck!

I agree that the prep is the worst part! I think I must have a very slow metabolism so it takes a loooong time before there's any action.

My advice is to line your route to the bathroom with lots of towels (which can easily be washed afterwards) and have two large bin bags close to the toilet - one for waste which can't be flushed (e.g. kitchen roll) and one for soiled clothing.

The procedure itself is a doddle, especially if you opt for sedation.

Good luck.

hi it can be quiet uncomfortable but the more relaxed you are the better it is. If you have any sedation you have to stay longer afterwards. They do not give GA. You can take some ibuprofen before or paracetamol. Hope all goes well.
