I did a colonoscopy 1.5 months ago which I believe caused a flare-up in chrons. I've been experiencing stomach cramps since the colonoscopy which radiates to the back. At first, I was scared that something might have happened during the colonoscopy- such as a perforation. My primary doctor and GI specialist assured me that did not happen. They say that if it was a perforation, the pain would be much worse and I would have no bowel sounds. However, I can't seem to calm my mind. Did anyone experience worsening symptoms of chrons after a colonoscopy? My Doctor recommends I take predinisone for 2 months. Do you think prednisone will help?

Hi, I usually have a mini flare for about 2 weeks following colonoscopy. If you think about it, a foreign body is being passed along your bowel, air is being pumped in to distend the bowel, thus stretching it a bit. Its not surprising the bowel becomes inflammed.
I think pred for 2 months is rather excessive - 2 weeks maybe. Are you on any other meds that could be increased for short time
I would have thought they would help you as you obviously got inflammation there after being prodded around. Should really calm it down. I take prednisone anyway for other illnesses . Hope ur pain eases soon x
I was put on steroids for a month eventually got there after 2 years almost
