Hi all. Just been for a colonoscopy and it has shown colitis. 12 biopsies were taken. I am now being referred to the IBD clinic. What can I expect next please. I have also just checked online at my doctors and my FIT test is back as abnormal at 385. Could this be the colitis casing this or should I start panicking about cancer now? #panicking
Colitis/Abnormal FIT : Hi all. Just... - Crohn's and Colit...

Panicking about anything won’t help. I am sure your referral will be very soon. In the meantime speak to your GP about your worries, perhaps he can help you with your fears. The biopsy results will help provide clarity and the sooner that is done the sooner you can get back on track. I know it’s easy to say don’t worry but try and think positively.
Hi there,
If you've already done your colonoscopy then your refferal won't be too long. Mine was about 4-6 weeks after it.
I'd say just talk to your GP.
And as Smilerdownes said panicking won't help, I know it's not easy to wait but that's the only thing you can do right now. Just hold on a bit longer until the specialists at the clinic see you.
Good luck!
Hi. I lived with ulcerative colitis for 18 years, every 3/4 years a flare up would mean going into dock for 3/4 days for prednisolone drip. The rest of time meds kept it under control. finally had a ileostomy 4 years ago and coping fine. Still here and me and my bag doing fine, In a nutshell it's just a new chapter not the end.. 22 years since diagnosed and still rocking. good luck.
After performing a colonoscopy the dr normally tells you what he has seen. You need to wait for biopsy report to get full diagnosis, but as colitis was picked up it does seem as though this is the cause of your problems. You can manage colitis and live a perfectly good life with it. Try to stay positive...and good luck.
