Hey .. i was diagnosed for ulcerative colitis in july this year after having severe symptoms for months .. my dr has prescriped prednisolone 60mg and taper it down in one month so i didn't had side effects .. and then i fellowed to take pentasa daily .. but in october i had a flare up and it was really hard so my dr put me again on prednisolone but this time at 80mg and didn't taper down .. 80mg for 1.5month .. when the flare has gone he started to taper down so before two weeks he let me taper from 80 to 60mg and at the same time i have suffered from the pain in my right chest and my neck and i can't take proper breathe .. went to the emergency two days ago they took x-ray and said that i have pneumonia in my right chest .. prescribed levoflocxacin and paracetamol for five days .. but i don't see any improvment in my status .. does anyone having an experince with pneumonia? How much time it take to go the symptoms? And does the prednisolone caused pneumonia? Please help 😔

I don't think Prednisolone causes Pneumonia, but I'm not a Doctor so I'm not sure. I've got Pneumonia now, my G.P have given me Antibiotics to take for 10 days. The trouble is I'm Allergic to Penicillin, so they can't give me the antibiotics that they wanted to .

I've been in hospital twice with it, but this time I'm being treated at home. It makes you feel quite I'll and very weak. It hurts to breathe. I have COPD and Asthma, that doesn't help. At home i have what they call an Emergency Package just in case I have a bad Asthma Attack, or really bad trouble to breathe..

The pack contains Antibiotics and Prednisone. This is why I said that I don't think Prednisolone would cause Pneumonia. There are several different types of Pneumonia. Hope this helps.

Take Care and look after yourself. 😊.

The prednisolone should actually help the pneumonia, as its a steroid. It can take a while but if no improvement i would contact doctor perhaps the antibiotic not working?

I was on steroids for over 10 years as every time i tapered off it would flare again. finally off for over 15 years .

Fodmaps can help its a list you can get as an APP foods which irritate the gut. Been following for past 2 year s my symptoms and toilet visits much improved
