Hernia strangulated years ago

About 15 years ago I had a strangulated hernia with emergency surgery. Prior to that I had constipation with straining often, with occasional bleeding. Constipation continued. It has continued to this day, with bleeding. Developed hemorrhoids too. Anyone heard of cases where the hernia caused damage like this?

Yes, unfortunately, I have a similar situation. The main difference is that I also suffer with CRPS of my right leg, result In in me having to use a heavy amount of morphine and other pain relief. There is a drug out that can help with morphine based constipation, called Naloxegol. I don't think it is available on general issue, but on a trial situation, NICE have allowed it. Good luck.

Thanks for your reply. Did you have mesh repair for your hernia?

No, and it is a good job I didn't, because, my wound got infected and if the mesh had been used, they would have had to operate again. I was told that when doing any work on the intestines now, it is policy to not use mesh, only clips for that one simple reason

Constipation will certainly cause hemmorhoids.
