I have had a colonoscopy today and still losing yellow mucus how long does this last please
todays colonoscopy: I have had a... - Crohn's and Colit...
todays colonoscopy
Until you start eating again and everything gets back to normal.
Thank you very much I was quite concerned.
mucus is produced to help the stool pass through the intestine, but at normal amounts you dont notice. Extra mucus is produced when the bowel is irritated or inflammed so may take up to a couple of days if not in flare up to get back to nomal
I took you word and had food and water as much as I could and it seems to be stopping (I hope). I still have a bit of a headache but that is due to dehydration. thank you once more for the help. J.
Talking about dehydration, I find it interesting that a lot of doctors forget to discuss using Dioralyte (the rehydration sachets) when having the runs, to keep the chemistry as good as possible. I do not quite follow the instructions on the packet, which is a sachet after each bout on the loo, as when very bad can be on the loo 10-12 times a day and similar at night. But when I know my fluid intake is not matched by absorbtion in the intestines make sure I take some accross each day. If you do not know how to do it, have a talk to a Nurse or Doctor about how to do a skin pinch test to see if you are dehydrated, can nip problems in the bud.
Usually it takes me a day or so for all the mucus and watery stool to stop after a colonoscopy, remember to drink lots of water to avoid dehydration 😄
