I think I might have chrons, however don't know. Is there a blood test they can do as I cannot tolerate colonoscopy as too painful. My tummy is so sore, diarrhoea, mucus and terrible painful joints! Have lost loads of weight used to be 84 kg down to 66kg over the years. Plus cannot tolerate wheat or dairy. Please advise, very thankful.

I assume you have been to your GP and discussed your symptoms? Blood tests and stool tests should show any inflammation problems and that would be the first step. A colonoscopy is not that bad - you will be sedated - and it's the only way to find out what's going on!
Thanks for it reply. Yes I've been to doctor's plus hospital. Already been diagnosed with diverticular disease. I'm just really scared from a previous colonoscopy and had a bad experience.
Nothing to be scared of in having a colonoscopy done, I was lucky had a nurse who talked to me all the way through and kept me calm needed no sedation at all. Found out I had colitis have trouble with wheat and corn. Best of luck
hi, blood tests will show if there any inflammation and also malnutrition from poor absorption of nutrients.
a faecal calprotectin test will show inflammation specific to bowel disease
these can be done then maybe medication will be prescribed to reduce the inflammation. you may then be able to tolerate a colonoscopy, its useful to have as they can take biopsies.
unfortunately crohns or colitis cannot be diagnosed on blood or stool tests alone
