Partial Small Bowel Obstruction

Can anyone let me know their experience of having a partial obstruction due to Crohn's disease. I have a narrowing in the middle of my small bowel, and I felt rough a few weeks ago but managed to clear it myself with going on a liquid diet and blended soups, but I think I'm starting with this issue again.

It comes on a couple of hours after eating, really loud belly noises and painful. I've no temperature, but my stomach is really uncomfortable. I've been told I'm being put on biologics, but I'm waiting for a call or letter to find out more. Hopefully, I should hear something in the next couple of weeks after the consultant reviews the CT report.

Hi, I haven’t been on here for ages. I would have numerous episodes of partial blockages, and they would end up with the inevitable resection. I hope that by using biologics, they can avoid that “solution “. Please let me know how you get on with it. At least you know they do now have another way to release the blockage. I use to reckon it was four blockages to one resection. I must confess that I am now back in the condition of needing more medical and surgical support to keep me well. Good luck xx

I have a stricture due to surgery in 1986. I had a little flare last weekend which results in severe colic pain, vomiting and sweats.

The crohns usually comes back at the join and I suspect the inflammation swells the bowel causing a blockage.

I have found over the years if I get a quick onset attack it goes away quickly. If it comes on gradually it can last months or years

Is strictureplasty an option or do they not do this now?

I have never had any biologics, but I remember when they came out. I havent been on any treatment since 2016

The surgeon all those years ago said if you are still passing wind then its still open.

I think they want to try the meds first. I'm not fully blocked, but things are getting worse as I have had these issues now quite often over the last few weeks
