I was just reading about people using Garmin & other apps when running & wondered whether anyone else uses MapMyRun? I've found it quite good so far & it's helping to keep me motivated.
Does anyone use MapMyRun?: I was just reading... - Couch to 5K
Does anyone use MapMyRun?
Only for planning as I don't have a smart phone. It's good to see the elevations and planning similar length routes.
Yes, I use MapMyRun. I set it going just before I run the podcast. My husband is a statistician so he loves looking at all the numbers and figures when I get back. He's a bit misguided though because he thinks I should be getting quicker with each run. I do keep telling him the important thing is just to keep going and speed can follow later. But I appreciate his support and enthusiasm which is what really counts.
For my part I just like to see how much ground I cover each time out.
Yes, I use MapMyRun but actually prefer RunKeeper (so I use both).
I use it to plot where I've been and my time when I get home as I don't have a compatible phone either.
I got a baby iPad for Christmas and downloaded it onto that, we took it with us when we took the dog out for a walk on Christmas day. Coming home I'm sure I heard it say we'd walked over 6K (I wasn't expecting to go that far) and when we checked at home it seems to have taken us about 10 yards up every single side turning making a 5.3k walk into a 7.74k epic including a really fast 4th K which apparently we did in 6mins 10secs (that's faster than I normally run!).
Yep, I use it & find it very reliable. It also doesn't force me to share everything on Facebook like Endomondo tried to do.
Yes I use it, not in any great detail but I like to look at my weekly activity graph and how many miles I've covered in a day. I have just gotten an iphone so I will start mapping my exact journeys. I did one today (my first run for 4 weeks due to a sprained knee) and had precise data, although the map said that I had been running in the sea!
I downloaded mapmyride when I got a bike for commuting on a couple of years ago, found I loved beating my own times, and recording pleasure rides also.
I now use the same app for recording my runs as I just select the activity as I save the data. I love it, and it still works on my old phone with no sim card in (using daughters old iphone as memory was useless in the other one, but that's bigger and heavier so use the old one for running)
Thanks everyone. I guess it's all down to personal choice but I find it quite accurate & enjoy comparing runs to see how I'm doing. I've just started week 3 & am determined to achieve 'graduate' status but think it will take longer than the 9 weeks they say!
I use it to pre-map a run so I have a good idea of distance.
Good luck for your c25k journey, dont worry if it takes longer, if you repeat a week/day its not a problem, but never be afraid to try.
