Strava, mapmyrun or other app? Reluctant to agree to the US information grab but probably have little choice? What do peeps prefer?

Endomondo is popular too, but Strava is king I'm afraid.

Other things to look at: Smashrun, fetcheveryone

I just use runkeeper. Never had any problems with it 😊

Strava for me too, great community aspect 😊

I use strava, no problems and they generally leave you in peace regarding marketing and updates.

RunKeeper never gave me problems; don’t know where it’s based though. I just consent to “necessary” cookies, direct the first few random emails to “junk” and had no further trouble.

I too have used Runkeeper and found no issues.

Mapmyrun/walk/ride come under parent company Under Armour Sports an American Company which manufactures sports clothing, I notice that they will soon be selling masks for athletes and other runners.

I have never had any problems with Mapmyrun, walk or ride at all.

UA are American... but for some reason they can spell Armour 🤣

I use the Nike app to track my runs, don’t have a clue about the data stuff though

Adidas Runtastic if you’re ok with the Germans having your data instead, runkeeper if you’d prefer it in Japan. I use Nike, they’re American but don’t share data with anyone.

100% Army Fit tracks runs and is very British... will cross train you to British army standards too if you want... not sure you can do free runs though.

Will investigate, thank you 😊 I won’t be troubling the cross training to military standards though 😬

Many thanks all, really helpful. I’m going to try the Nike app (assuming ancient iPhone has enough umph to load it)
