This morning I felt like going out and trying a gentle 20 minutes after building back up with walk/runs recently. So I thought I would set mapmyrun so I could look at my stats afterwards. Well, after about 2 minutes, the mapmyrun lady told me that I had run a km, then about a minute later that I had done 2km. She told me that I have run 7.6km today in 22 minutes, with a top speed of 276km per hour. Oh how I WISH it was true! π π π Anyway, just happy that I ran for 20 minutes!
Mapmyrun gone rogue! : This morning I felt like... - Couch to 5K
Mapmyrun gone rogue!
Go for the marathon Debston!
well done on your 20 minute run - the mapmyrun lady was just trying to be encouraging
Haha, youβd need to be rocket powered to do that! Well done on the 20 mins π
Hi Debston, as I like gadgets I always use Map my Run to record my C25K sessions, All the way through weeks 1 to 3 I've noticed it shows a weird speed spike where I slow from my first run into a recovery walk. At first I assumed it to be some sort of satellite interference creating this glitch but obviously as the weeks have progressed my physical position on the ground has altered so it can't be that. All I can say is that it must be a glitch as there's no way I've suddenly run about 3 times quicker than I had so for for about a couple of seconds!
Yes, I have had weird speed spikes before but generally have found it pretty accurate. Though I remember once at Parkrun, mapmyrun was telling me that I was a km behind where I actually was and I had a lovely surprise when I realised I was nearly at the finish line! π Oh well, as I'm not actually an elite athlete, I don't suppose any of it matters too much. I just like geeking out over the stats after each run!
Wow! You're fast. Finding sponsorship should be easy π€£
Good on you though for getting out for a 20 minute run. While I'm trying to get back to it after some mental hurdles, I've been enjoying running without the worry of stats. Of course I'm still running with Runkeeper but am not wearing my watch for real time stats. It has helped a bit for me. Perhaps MMR was just doing that for you π
Me too SaskAlliecat!! π€ Itβs all about getting out there! Hope all going well! Keep going! β€οΈ
Ah Debston love that!! π€© I might have to map my run now!! ππ! I can only hope! Well done for your run!! Iβm happy with just getting out too! πβ€οΈ
Jet propelled, pretty good speed for you Debston, I bet Mo must be a bit worried if you ever run in the same race as he does. π
I had no problems this morning when I went for my mid week 5K run, I used Mapmyrun, there were no problems with the app, only me, I had to push myself when the lady told my my pace time was 7.19km between kilometer 3 and 4, however, I did speed up on the last kilometer with a pace time of 5.55km.my total time this morning was 33.10, five seconds quicker than the 33.15 of parkrun last Saturday.
Yep, Sir Mo better watch out! π Glad mapmyrun behaved itself for you, AlMorr - obviously thought you didn't need flattering like I did! Great time for your 5km, I am hoping to get to Parkrun on Saturday, don't think I'll be anywhere near your time though.
Great that you're continuing building up your running Debston. Hope you enjoy parkrun on Saturday π
π
Well done despite her distractions!! Sometimes running naked is a bonus!
Glad you managed 20 mins ππ
Your mapmyrun lady sounds nuts, good to just run for 20 minutes but would have been even more good if your stats were correct, hopefully next run she will have sobered up
