Welcome mandym0, the pain of week 1 is still fresh in my mind and what with the lack of self belief I thought it would never be able to complete week 2 never mind week 9..

Well I've stuck religiously to running 3 times a week, listened to everything Laura has said and guess what last night I completed my 1st run of week 9 ... 30 mins of non-stopping running.. Keep believing in yourself and the program, it is so worth it, you will feel immense.

Good Luck x

goodness me YES!!!!! extremely hard!! legs didnt work, lungs didnt work, I just didnt work!!

but, rest assure, it does get better, honest :-)

every week you WILL see an improvement (see, Im using capital letters to reinforce my words so i must mean what I say ;-)

it doesnt seem like it now, i know, but as others will doubtless say and have said, trust in the program. It does work.

best of luck, do let us know how you get on on your next run. think positive!

Absolutely! What they said. I went to a friend's house straight after finishing W1R1. Her husband opened the door, took one look at me and burst out laughing. ;) (Didn't help that it had rained, but I was beetroot red anyway, as well as being a drowned rat!) Keep on going out there, do what Laura tells you, and you WILL improve (see, I'm using capitals too!). :)

Welcome, you're on a brilliant journey now and the (almost) hardest part, starting, is done.

You CAN do it. Have a ferret around on this site (on the Tags section). I don't think you will find anyone blogging who found it easy to start with. Some of us, me, even did week1 twice! Trust the programme, listen to Laura (assuming you are using the nhs c25k podcasts) and come on here to share your experiences/get encouragement and advice. You won't regret it.

Welcome! Week 1 was a huge dose of reality for me! :-( I went from not running a few 1 minutes to now, running over an hour. All things are possible as long as you believe in yourself. Go slow, listen to Laura, blog often and use this Community for support, motivation and advice. :-) Gayle

Nice one for completing it. First run was my worst (by a long shot) and it as got easier since then, breathing and everything. Just try to relax and occupy your mind with other things (holiday planning or your to-do list etc), don't focus on the running too much! Hard at first but I'm not w5 now and promise it gets easier. I thought the same as you but feeling much more positive now. :-)

Oh gosh, Week 1 was a nightmare. Huffing, puffing, beetroot red. Terrible. But it does get better, I promise x

Yes, week 1 was tough! 3 months later and I can run for 50 minutes (I wouldn't say that was easy, but it's do-able).

One thing that helped a lot, was realising that running slowly is much, much better than not running at all. (Running fast is probably even better, but if the choice is fast/not at all, slower is worth considering!) I ran slower than I walked, for ages!

Good to see that you're still up for it! :)

Yes, absolutely, jolly hard - I just keep on thinking 'trust the programme' and keep going, don't go too fast, stop worrying about looking an idiot. Keep at it and let us know how you're getting on.
