Week 3 Day 1 - 3 minutes wasn't as bad as I thought

I got up this morning at 6am (before my toddler woke) and set out for my run at 6:35 leaving her with my hubby.

I struggled with the cold at that time in the morning but the actual running wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I slowed my pace a little but it was faster than I expected, though I didn't run nearly as far as the other weeks (think this is because you run for less time overall).

My right knee is a bit sore as I started the 30 day shred last night as well but I think it's just my muscles adjusting.

I'm really enjoying C25K and never thought I would be able to cover 3km including WU/ CD but I am doing :-). Roll on the shred this evening and day 2 on Wednesday :-).

Well done Jennifaerie. I should have been doing the same as you today but I'm in my bed ill so it'll be a little while before I can attempt it. I'm glad to hear the 3mins weren't as bad as you thought. When I did run 2 of wk2 I thought wk 3 would be ok, but then I ran when I wasn't really well enough for the final wk two run and it felt like an uphill struggle, so I'm a bit more apprehensive about it now. However, hopefully being properly well will make a difference. I've yet to try morning running (have been hiding in the dark as I am naturally more of a night person even after two kids) but I do wonder if I should give it a go and get out first thing. It will have to be a bit warmer for me though on the first attempt. :-)

Good job, Jennifaerie. But, excuse my ignorance, what's all this "shredding". I only know of shredded paper etc.

It's the 30 day shred - a strength/ cardio/ abs DVD that's only 20 minutes a day. It's now been snowing on and off all day so I'm so glad I ran this morning. The cold wasn't too bad as I have a couple of layers of running gear as well as gloves.

It was just light when I went this morning and it did seems to work well. My hubby is my inspiration as although he was already fit when he started he began running last Jan and ran 15 miles without stopping on Saturday.

A massive well done to you, I also ran W3 R1 today and it was no where near as bad as I thought it would be. But unlike you who braved the cold, I went to the gym for the first time and it was so much easier. When it gets a bit warmer I may try the early morning runs.Best of luck for Run 2.
