I'm new here, this is my 3rd time attempting C25K. The last two times (which happened many years ago), I always gave up before week 3 run 1, thinking I'd never be able to do it. Today, I did it, and I'm so proud of myself! I took it really slow, and cheated a bit by strategically choosing my route to avoid Big Scary Hill that is part of the usual route.
One day, Big Scary Hill. One day I will run all the way up you, and not immediately need to walk when I get to the top.
The day I can run up Big Scary Hill is the day I become a CHAMP.

Big Scary Hill can wait for another day. But it's great that you completed W3R1 today. It's worth choosing routes that aren't too challenging for the time being, while you make good progress.
Well done on the 3 minutes. Doesn't it feel like such a huge hurdle I also completed W3R1 yesterday and altered my route to avoid a much smaller, but still definitely uphill path. Like you I decided 3 minutes of running was far more important than taking on a hill at the same time
Too true, I went for a "achievement " of progress run . All to ready to pat myself on my back!
Motto don't choose a new route, don't try and run up a hill for most of the run, run with wind behind you.. run in the morning , not after a frustrating work day but remember to be proud that you made some of the run!
The last 4 words in your post is why you will master it, don't forget, every run you do you increase your fitness and stamina, I bet you beat the hill before the end of the program without feeling like you are going to have a cardiac.
Slow and steady, control your breathing and you will do it.
Well done! I spent all of weeks 2, 3 and 4 thinking there was no way I would manage the next week, but somehow I did. There are no big scary hills around where I live and I'm still nervous of gradients, although I must admit that I'm starting to think I could give it a try. Sounds like you'll have them cracked in no time! Keep it up!
Woohoo! I have a big scary hill nearby ... accidentally ended up trying to run up it instead of it being on a walking section back on week 2 ish ... avoided it since, but will get there! Week three was the big one for me, it was so hard doing those first-ever three minutes but I managed it and that made me think I could really do this, and I made my first post after that too
You should be very proud of yourself and I really hope you progress and keep posting!
