Wow I can't believe I did that!! I actually ran!! for 20 minutes!! without stopping!! I'm over-exclaiming now!!

And whilst contemplating the world out my garage window for 20 minutes (I was on the treadmill), I came to the conclusion that I actually prefer running on the treadmill to outside! I never thought I would say that, but I just did. Treadmilling eliminated all that bumpy uneven ground, there were no kerbs to trip on and thankfully no dog poo.

I also noticed that coming up to 8 minutes into the run, my legs suddenly felt all "light" and it was remarkably easy after that - is that how long it takes for those endorphins to kick in??

Had to work today so didn't have time to weigh and measure, but so what, there's always next week.

I've also found that my best time of day for running is first thing in the morning - empty bladder, empty stomach definitely suits me better. Just a quick rinse with mouthwash!! Best reward for getting up at 6.30am? - sitting down with a nice bowl of soggy muesli!

Good luck with your runs, folks.

Sounds like that was a really good run - 'light' legs sounds really really good! Well done.

Must admit I wouldn't mind missing out on the doggy deposits, but other than that, I love being outside and think I'd go bonkers on a treadmill, so I admire your determination. :)

Congrats! I'm at exactly the same stage as you (well, maybe a couple of hours behind :P) - just walked in and am so tempted to over-exclamate as well!!! I can't believe that this whole running program thing is actually working.

Although I have to run in the evenings, mornings just make everything so much harder...

Congratulations!!! You sound like a few of the other runners here who prefer the longer runs. I find the first half of every run challenging and the second half usually flies by. Well done and welcome to week 6!! Gayle

Thanks everyone for your lovely comments. I am still on a high - celebrated by putting on a pair of jeans today for the first time in a long time, and my muffin belly has definitely shrunk. And my slightly sore shins have gone...well not literally!
