Another week with no running!

Bad ligament injury, I haven't run for four weeks. My target was 5 k by Christmas and I feel really bad that I didn't manage it. My ankle still hurts on each step when I'm walking and I'm having physio . Will I ever be able to run again? Every where I go I see runners and it is driving me mad!

Nothing worse then to want to run and not be able to. Praying the ankle heals quickly and through treatment, you can run again. Sorry you didn't meet your goal of a 5K by the end of the year but it was not in your control. Life seems to deal us another plan at times. Hoping you have a nice 2013!!!! Gayle

I am so sorry to hear about your injury, Tessie. It seems that a long break because of injury just sucks the life out of us! Don't worry about your goal, it is more important to get better and then see what the ankle allows!!

Best Wishes!

Steve

Don't feel bad - once you're recovered you will be able to get back on track and may find it easier starting the programme second time. I began this early 2012 - then really hurt my ankle and stopped for almost 3 months argot due to life and summer holidays. I worked really hard at the physio exercises and did some Pilates for the first time in my life to help prevent injury. So think about what else you might be able to do as cross training that doesn't hurt your ankle.

I started again from scratch - and repeated some middle weeks to be confident about not getting injured again. I feel much stronger than when I began first time - and I've got one more run before I graduate :)

So don't despair, take care of that ankle and if you wait til it's properly better you'll do it no problem. After all if you look back in a few years time as a runner you'll barely notice the difference of a month or two. Good luck

I'm in the same situation. 5 weeks with no running so far after developing plantar faciitis. However it doesnt feel as bad as it did so I'm going to start some different exercises in the new year until it gets better. Swimming and cycling will have to do until it gets better!

I tore an ankle ligament early on in the year (before I started C25K). It took several months to heal properly, but has given me no problems since starting running, so there's hope for you yet :-) I'm currently waiting for a pulled calf muscle to heal (for the third or fourth time) and have now got a chest cold which has triggered a bad bout of asthma. These things are sent to try us...but I wish they'd leave us alone!!!
