An interesting lecture from someone at the extreme end of running

So I watched this lecture on youtube by an ultrarunner in the usa. He does crazy things like 100 mile ultramarathons and treats a marathon as a training session. In fact he commutes to work by running the 15 miles to get there in the morning then 15 miles back in the evening. He actually provides some really interesting advice that can be used in all forms of running. Oh and his diet only consists of fruit!

Thanks for this Mark. How interesting - the 4 stages of running, the physical, the mental, the emotional and the spiritual. Especially what he says about the mental challenge and how it gets better when we keep going. Wow :-)

...and of course his novel way of wiping his derrière ;-P

Yes I found it fascinating stuff. Even his handy hints on natures toilet paper! ;)

I found the stuff about his diet interesting. He only eats foods that are less than 4% fat so his body is less than 4% fat.

Also the fact he buys womens shoes to train in because if you buy them two sizes bigger they are the same as the mens versions but can be bought in online sales alot cheaper!

Out running all day long for hours and hours... Then sleeping for 10 hours. What a fun guy to live with, his poor wife. Don't get me wrong, I love jogging but I think my family means more!

He's so extreme, but I really did find him interesting.

An interesting perspective from the extreme side of the sport. I envy his body's ability to be able to run so much injury-free, not that I aspire to such long runs!
