An unexpected benefit of running.

One of the early benefits of running is that I've stopped drinking. That was my plan anyway, but I've planned to stop a few times and then slipped back off the wagon again.

Seeing as it's kind of hard to run when you're pissed, I have found it easier not to drink.

I plan to stop until Christmas, which, if I continue running, shouldn't be a problem.

I would be interested in know what other benefits or changes have come your way since running, apart from weight loss and fitness.

Good for you!

I found the same thing. Why spoil all my hard work by having a drink or a sugary snack?

My wife tells me that my mood has changed significantly for the better too :)

Good luck with that wagon!

My mood has changed too. I'm a bit more relaxed and my mindset has changed slightly, still work in progress though.

I gave up boozing, fags, unhealthy food, started walking with a borrowed dog, lost loads of weight so decided to give running a bash so I could keep up with the dog 😃

I have no trouble keeping up with him now. I never missed the booze, fags or junk food. Never going back.

I had already given up the fags, but drastically reduced alcohol consumption since doing this thing. It's easier when you compare the feeling you get from doing something that can improve your wellbeing and consuming something which is basically a depressant , not that I'm a killjoy, alcohol can be fun too. But there are just other ways to enjoy yourself.

I'll soon change my diet, but I want to work on my fitness first. I know most people do both at once, but that never works for me. It's better for me to take my time and do things in stages.
