Thinking of getting an android phone and wondered what apps people use?
what app are people using to track running? - Couch to 5K
what app are people using to track running?
I have a droid phone and use Rundouble. The first two weeks of the programme are free but you the pay 99p to unlock the remainder. I like it because I can use my own music. So for the first run of the week I play Laura through Rundouble then use my own playlist. It also gives you various run stats (if you use it outside rather than on a treadmill). Hope this helps.
Mapmyrun which I have found accurate
Another vote for Mapmyrun. I find it really good and GPS works well "off road".
Hi totalbeginner :-)... I have done the whole programme using SportsTracker app for android (and I guess iPhone if that's your bag...). It calculates everything from altitude, pace, time, distance and does laps at whichever distance you want. You can track straight from your 'phone AND play your podcasts through it. No having to upload the data onto the computer BUT if you do want to use one you can play on their website :-).
I have the free app and it's brilliant and REALLY accurate as I measured it with a friend's Garmin. I love it and it's really reliable. Also, if you are a social media addict you can immediately share your run on every media format known to mankind!!!
Good luck and enjoy the ride, Sara
endomondo .. though they have upset a few folk recently by charging for features that were previously free
Have had a go with a few RunDouble is good for the Couch25K stuff worth 99p. Now I've graduated I'm playing with endomondo and have sports tracker too. One thing to bear in mind is the GPS can sometimes be a little optimistic. Try gb.mapometer.com/ to plan your runs too.
Hi, I have a Htc Desire phone, and I use CardioTrainer. It maps your runs and provides useful stats, uploads to your computer account. Also allows you to record other exercise, and its free
I've been using RunKeeper but am going to change as the GPS which was always a little dodgy has gotten to the point its only catching me for half my run
Really like the Nike+ app, I'm a sucker for a brand-name, and it's the only one I've tried if I'm honest. Its interface is user friendly and pretty.
I've also heard good things re: Endomondo and MapMyRun
I use Runkeeper on my HTC phone. Occasionally drops the gps but I'll stick with it as it's what my brother in the top left hand corner of Wales uses and we can share info.
I use Runkeeper too. My preferred one of the ones I've tried.
I like MapMyRun. I've also got the RunDouble app but haven't tried it out yet.
I'm tempted to try this app but I'm worried it will make me look like a lunatic !
really appreciate this, thanks guys!
I did garduate from the programme last summer although i have taken a break due to pregnancy...
I was going to get a GPS watch but since i will be getting an android phone its useful to hear the apps are accurate against the garmin so I might not need to get the watch now
wil it casuse conflict problems if i try to upload more then one run tracker to try a few? or an i best picking one, then deleting it and uploading another? As you can tell im a complete smartphone (& app) novice !
great - havent tried any before as I have not had a smartphone before.
can't wait until santa comes
I have only used MapMyRun but haven't needed anything else as it has always "done the job"
I like the Nike+ apps as they sync to the Nike Plus website and you can see your progress really clearly; not sure if they're available on Android though.
I was trying lots of apps for android and now im stuck with this one street-quest.com/ . My two friends download it to, and it give lots of fun. Painting streets or collecting stars - priceless Btw game is free ;P
Mapmyrun is good - for keeping track of total amount run though (including treadmill runs in the gym) - I just built my own Excel spreadsheet ! If you know your weight (!) then it's easy to calculate the calories you've burnt in total also (not available on my apps). Watching the total calories burnt go up is what really got me through the program! Good luck !
