W4R2 - Cold. So cold.

You you may have noticed I missed a run this week. Sorry. This was due to a number of things (migraine, homework, revision, procrastination, laziness etc.). Finally got out though today about 15:00, and as it wasn't dark as usual for my running times I thought: "Hey, I haven't run outside for weeks, let's go for it!" However, following "The Quadbike Incident" a couple of weeks ago (Might go into that some time) I was feeling somewhat reluctant to jog on those windy country roads again.

So circuits around my house it was.

Luckily we live in quite a big country house, and one lap walking was about just under a minute, and roughly 30 seconds running. My mum was having a good giggle at my expense flashing past the window in a state of exhaustion every now and then! But it. Was. FREEZING. Honestly, I decided not to wear thermals as I would get hot and sweaty anyway - well my face certainly was, my arms were bright red and numb! Ugh.

Did the total time though, which is the main thing. Didn't become overly exhausted, and my leg didn't give me any grief (Horay!!!)

Got a bit of additional excercise in this week anyway. I got home after school this week only to find the front door locked, and me with no key. Then I remembered the folks wouldn't be back for anywhere in between half an hour and three hours. And I live in the middle of a field in the middle of nowhere.

After checking all the doors and windows, and checking in on the neighbours, I camped out in the car a while (unlcoked, thankfully). Did I mention it was foggy and drizling, not to mention freezing? After finding an old unused socket in the garage and charging up my old mobile, I could finally call the 'rents and get sorted. Turned out they wouldn't be back for three hours. And the nearest friend with a spare key lived two miles away in another village. Uphill. Through the woods. Oh joy.

So I got in a good hike this week at least! (There was nothing really to do with running there, just thought I'd share!)

So, anyone else been caught in a similar situation?

You are doing great Ruth! I chuckled when I read the part about you running around the house! I bet your mom was laughing at such a sight but also very proud of her daughter! :-)::

Stupid phone! :-) I'm back! :-) also sounds like the hike can be considered cross training. Only 1 more run of week 4 then into week 5!!!! :-) You can do this! Gayle

my house is smaller but I could still run around it......except i couldn't face the neighbours watching. My problem this week isn't cold...it is wet. I would need waterwings on my feet..or perhaps flippers.........SW Scotland = floods. Luckily I have never been locked out but my husband and daughter have both managed it......they kicked out the lower door panel and daughter crawled through
